Groundwater is a critical resource for economic growth and livelihoods in the dense agricultural plains of plateaus. However, contaminations from various sources pose significant threats to groundwater quality. Understanding contamination mechanisms hydrochemical control essential sustainable development agriculturally intensive plains. This research utilizes 23 datasets chemical measurements apply hierarchical clustering analysis, positive matrix factorization, analysis techniques. Through these methods, study identifies deciphers within representative plain region Yungui Plateau. The finds indicate that primarily derives rainfall occurred surrounding mountains. During long underground flow process, undergoes water-rock interactions ion exchanges with lithological strata, resulting formation distinct types. ABSTRACT Groundwater is a crucial water resource for various usages worldwide. The Quetta Valley of Pakistan was investigated regarding its groundwater quality sustainability based on integrated approaches hydrochemistry, geographic information system, and multivariate statistics. A total 29 samples were collected from monitoring wells to get insights into the hydrochemical suitability sustainable irrigation drinking utilization. results indicate mainly featured by facies HCO3·Cl-Ca. composition dominantly governed dissolution carbonates silicate minerals in combination with positive cation exchange valley. Principal component analysis reveals significant influence geogenic factors chemistry, further supported PHREEQC simulation that detects supersaturation calcite, dolomite, sulphate aquifer. index divides study area three zones, which signify low restriction no restriction, except severe southwestern part generally suitable across entropy-weighted classifies as excellent good drinking. Rivers are an important source of water in humid regions, but their availability is greatly limited by chemistry. In order to accurately identify the changes river chemical composition, compositional analysis method (CoDA) proposed from perspective data theory, which considers geochemical riverine system as a whole and detects entire watershed. The basic carried out traditional methods, results show that hydrochemical characteristics different sections basin have significant features. chemistry Dongxi River HCO3− Ca type. Xixi shows gradual evolution HCO3-Ca type high SO42− content upper reaches Cl-Ca lower reaches. hydrochemistry watershed mainly affected rock weathering leaching (PC1) agricultural domestic pollutant discharge (PC2), with contribution rate 48.4% 19.7%, respectively.
