Urban
forest
policies
have
garnered
increasing
global
attention
for
their
critical
role
in
providing
key
ecosystem
services
such
as
carbon
sequestration,
air
pollution
control,
microclimate
regulation,
and
biodiversity
enhancement,
well
potential
to
drive
green
innovation
sustainable
urban
development.
This
study
utilized
panel
data
from
273
Chinese
cities
between
2000
2022,
employing
a
quasi-natural
experiment
difference-in-differences
(DID)
model
systematically
evaluate
the
impact
of
National
Forest
City
Policy
(NFCP)
on
innovation.
The
results
indicate
that
NFCP
significantly
enhances
innovation,
with
these
findings
remaining
robust
across
series
validation
tests.
Mechanism
analysis
revealed
policy
fosters
by
environmental
attention,
facilitating
talent
aggregation,
reducing
emissions.
Furthermore,
heterogeneity
showed
policy’s
effects
are
more
pronounced
small-
medium-sized
cities,
non-transportation
hub
economically
developed
regions.
Based
findings,
this
paper
offers
recommendations
optimizing
implementation
different
city
types
further
promote
economic
broadens
research
perspective
relationship
precise
decision-making
guidance
policymakers
while
also
highlighting
important
forests
play
enhancing
driving
growth.

Urban
informal
green
spaces
(IGS)
represent
valuable
reservoirs
of
biodiversity
within
urban
areas
and
are
increasingly
recognized
as
integral
components
