Urban parks play a critical role in improving the quality of life local residents and creating sustainable resilient urban environments. As are essential public services, it is important that they be accessible, sufficient, high so all city can access benefit from them to advocate environmental justice. To make park services more equitable, crucial evaluate distribution existing consider potential locations for new parks, terms both utilization. By adopting type dynamic population data based on mobile phone-based tracking, we assessed by vulnerable populations, particularly economically marginalized older adults, employed demographic features neighboring candidate sites estimate Ultimately, developed an advanced multi-objective location optimization model considering access, utilization, construction cost. The three objectives maximizing utilization when established, number people who covered minimizing total establishment cost were optimized locating among sites. proposed methodology was validated with application Ulsan Metropolitan City Republic Korea.

Green city areas are crucial in mitigating the Urban Heat Island Effect (UHI). However, cooling effect of green can be influenced by surrounding complex urban spatial environment. This study focuses on Changsha, a subtropical China, where 40 were screened and analyzed. The aims to quantify specific impact morphology areas. Through statistical correlation regression analysis, this focused six indicators: building density (BD), floor area ratio (BFR), volume (BVD), evenness index (BEI), average height (BH), standard deviation (BSD). results indicate that could morphology. Factors such as BD, BFR, BH, BSD found significantly correlated with areas, BH showing strongest influence. BD BFR negatively correlated, while positively correlated. range values determined achieve optimal conditions for Additionally, relative position neighboring affects is most pronounced situated south These findings provide solid foundation planning around spaces offer scientifically sound evidence UHI.

As cities expand rapidly, the combined effects of urbanization, global warming, and intensification Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon have become more challenging for urban environments. In response, Green Infrastructure (UGI) has gained attention as a practical effective tool mitigating UHI improving climate change. Among various UGIs, parks been subject numerous studies due to their proven ability reduce air surface temperatures, improve local microclimates, enhance overall livability. This systematic review synthesizes existing body research identify key factors that influence cooling performance parks. A total 131 peer-reviewed between 2014 2024 were analyzed, focusing on both design-related site-related play pivotal roles in park’s effectiveness. Design-related include park size, shape, vegetation density composition, presence water bodies, impervious surfaces while encompass background conditions, proximity natural configuration surrounding The findings reveal tree coverage, bodies are most influential enhancing performance. For factors, wind speed direction emerged critical components maximizing benefits. Research also showed can affect by influencing airflow patterns shading. Understanding these dynamics is crucial worldwide they strive design address specific environmental climatic challenges. this offer guidance landscape architects planners, enabling them deliver enhanced benefits, especially when face rising temperatures an increasing number heatwaves.

Urban areas with parks tend to have the best outdoor thermal comfort in regions high urban heat island effects during summer. This study analyzed synergistic cooling of 94 and adjacent built-up six districts Xi’an City using four indicators: park intensity (PCI), area (PCA), effect (PCE), gradient (PCG). The results showed that 84 out exhibited significant effects, an average PCI 1.98 °C, PCA 51.7 ha, PCE 6.6, PCG 8.2 °C/km. Correlation analyses indicated intrinsic attributes, external buffer zone building height, density were main factors affecting effect. landscape configuration, significantly influenced PCG, while shape size crucial for (positive) (negative). optimal improving environment identified as 26 ha (cooling focus, <13%) 15 height <21 m, >32%). provides theoretical guidance planning surrounding based on offering insights future climate resilience planning.

Urban parks are vital for mitigating high urban temperatures, yet optimizing their design maximum cooling benefits remains a challenge. This study investigates the mechanisms of 65 in Tianjin, assessing characteristics and spatial equity regarding capacity. Results show that 63 significantly lower with an average Park Cooling Area (PCA) 45.0 hectares, Efficiency (PCE) 8.09, Gradient (PCG) 16.4 °C/km, Intensity (PCI) 2.64 °C. Key factors influencing effectiveness include park albedo nearby water bodies, optimal values between 3 3.6, bodies at least 2.5 hectares enhancing efficiency. Notably, only 38.9% residents can easily access services. While neighborhood dense areas provide economic benefits, they serve fewer residents; comprehensive cover more people but less accessible. offers new insights into effects coastal parks, aiding planners addressing marginalized residents’ needs resilience amid climate change.
