Abstract Climate change poses a significant threat to biodiversity, influencing habitat distribution and survival of forest tree species. The True Service Tree (Sorbus domestica L.), temperate species with ecological economic importance, faces uncertain prospects for adaptation under future climate conditions. This study utilizes models (SDMs) various environmental variables assess shifts in migration trends current scenarios (SSP2-4.5 SSP5-8.5). Results indicate that the extreme SSP5-8.5 scenario, average altitude suitable habitats could rise by approximately 160 meters 2100, highlighting potential higher altitudes as an loss pressures. However, it remains whether this upward shift can keep pace rapid rate change. Additionally, identifies mean temperature driest quarter critical limiting factor suitability, underscoring temperature’s pivotal role shaping species’ distribution. By integrating climate, landscape, elevation variables, quantifies relative importance factors determining across different scenarios. Including landscape such soil organic carbon, land cover type, clay content significantly improved model accuracy, emphasizing their influence on quality plant survival. research provides scientific basis conservation S. under conditions, offering practical reserve planning management. addressing gaps understanding high-altitude adaptations species, also valuable insights conserving other advancing climate-adaptive strategies biodiversity.

Climate-change-induced drought threatens forest restoration by limiting seedling establishment. To address this, we developed synthetic bacterial communities (SynComs) tailored to support tolerance in two Mediterranean tree species, Quercus pubescens and Sorbus domestica. Bacteria were isolated from soil exposed long-term drought, sampling across depths root-associated compartments. We selected strains with key plant-beneficial traits, including exopolysaccharide (EPS) production, hormone synthesis (auxin, ABA), siderophore release, osmotic tolerance. SynComs assembled based on functional complementarity ecological origin. Biofilm assays showed that even weak individual producers could enhance community-level performance. After initial screening Arabidopsis thaliana, the most least effective tested Q. S. domestica seedlings. Compared controls, best-performing reduced proportion of drought-symptomatic seedlings 47% 71% domestica, outperforming single-strain inoculants. Notably, EPS-rich SynCom B aligned conservative root traits pubescens, while hormone-rich F matched acquisitive strategy Predictive modeling identified identity symptom timing as predictors resilience. Our results highlight value matching microbial plant strategies context for climate-smart restoration.

Cormus domestica (L.) is a monophyletic wild fruit tree belonging to the Rosaceae family, with well-documented use in Mediterranean region. Traditionally, these fruits are harvested and stored for at least 2 weeks before consumption. During this period, reaches its well-known peculiar organoleptic texture characteristics. However, spread of more profitable species, resulted progressive erosion. In work we performed proteomic metabolomic analyses three times after harvesting, characterise postharvest physiological molecular changes, it related nutritional properties
