Intergenerational sharing promotes social cohesion within communities by encouraging dialogue and understanding across different age groups. Nevertheless, existing research has inadequately delved into the human experiences meaning-making processes that underpin intergenerational sharing, leading to a limited grasp of effective design intervention strategies in community spaces. This study aimed explore environmental factors influencing interactions public spaces Changsha, China, addressing two primary questions: (1) What shape behaviors? (2) can enhance spaces? employed mixed-methods approach, including qualitative observation quantitative importance–performance analysis (IPA) through survey 212 residents, investigate needs residents. To begin with, conducted detailed characteristics variations Changsha’s The finding revealed notable disparities behaviors among three types spaces: traditional, commercial housing, integrated neighborhoods. Through behavior IPA, key were identified, emphasizing areas for improvement. Based on these findings, proposed framework consisting planning design, spatial layout facility construction, management, with nine targeted optimize cater unique types. These findings deepen our mechanisms offer practical recommendations fostering stronger interactions, providing valuable insights future space design.

Climate change poses a significant threat to human health and wellbeing, yet its impacts can be mitigated through effective local action. Green spaces offer numerous climate benefits cities, including improving air quality, water management providing cooling effects, with subsequent benefits. Despite such benefits, the current municipal policy practice faces challenges in aligning climate, greenspace interventions on ground. This paper looks at evidence base London. Employing policy-engaged approach, it draws semi-structured interviews focus group discussions London boroughs unpack what indicators are measured why; feeds into evaluation frameworks; how greenspace, adaptation integrated across London’s municipalities. The findings reveal limited fragmented approaches measuring multiple of interventions, weak links outcomes, little alignment level. has broader implications for data-driven governance models pursued by cities worldwide integrating greenspace–climate–health within spatial political context cities. concludes summarising research findings, presenting recommendations highlighting areas future research.

This study evaluates green space suitability in İzmir's Konak district using the analytic hierarchy process, machine learning, weighted linear combination, and technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution methods, integrated with geographic information systems. The approach enhances reliability identification ensuring consistent integration of weights determined different methods. Machine learning enables dynamic adjustments criterion weights, yielding best results random forest algorithm. analysis revealed that 75% spaces were sub-optimally located, optimal zones western northern regions. methodology prioritized area ZGS_6 as most suitable area, while ZGS_4 ranked lowest. method supports efficient resource allocation improves budgeting processes. Hence, multi-criteria decision-making systems planning sustainable cities offers critical insights decision-makers who prioritize sustainability livability.

Water management in the European Union is evolving towards landscape retention through natural measures, utilizing arable land, forests, wetlands, and other features to regulate water flow storage. These measures mitigate urban challenges adapt climate change impacts like surface or groundwater recharge. Forested areas soil composition are critical for retention, enhanced agrotechnical methods strategic investments phytomelioration. River valley soils also serve as measures. Despite persisting challenges, ongoing efforts align with EU's Framework Directive, emphasizing territorial planning ecosystem services' multifunctionality. Recognizing systems' complexity crucial justifying conservation enhancement efforts.

As participatory mapping becomes more ingrained into practices, it is vital to understand what makes a method effective. Through the employment of experiment within an ongoing urban greening initiative, this research aims at validating two established aggregation methods spatially explicit data points in mapping. Utilizing paper activity with community residents, collected spatial were analyzed using both democratic and weighted aggregation. Subsequently, follow-up study was employed validate perceived feeling ownership among terms stakeholders’ sense representation visual outputs. This introduces novel approach evaluation practices. A key finding includes development comprehensive methodological model that explores various aspects process. Additionally, new criterion presented, stakeholder representation, which evaluate effectiveness. The difference between not found be significant, as results revealed consistent overlap areas interest across groups, suggesting general public consensus on local priorities. These insights hold considerable value for decisions makers, agreement provide stable foundation planning. Lastly, contributes efforts standardize methods, while also addressing potential varied enhance
