Urban green spaces (UGS) are vital for the quality of life in cities. However, managing these metropolitan areas is increasingly challenging. There a critical gap regarding specific challenges and strategies employed by municipalities varying sizes emerging economies. Most existing research focuses on developed countries, leaving void understanding how economies manage UGS under different constraints. This study delves into associated with region São Paulo (MRSP), Brazil, comparing experiences to provide empirical evidence that can inform policy making urban planning practices similar contexts. A structured questionnaire was distributed environmental departments across 39 MRSP. The survey included questions population size, priority given UGS, faced adopted overcome barriers. Chi-square tests were used analyze association between municipality size identified strategies. found larger face significant barriers related high density land use conflicts, which less pronounced smaller municipalities. all Policy makers should focus promoting vertical spaces, expanding greening programs, ensuring equitable resource allocation. Public–private partnerships community involvement processes crucial sustainable management. Integrating policies broader development plans essential creating cohesive environments. Further conduct comparative studies multiple regions countries more comprehensive management globally. integrates insights from ecology, landscape architecture, public policy, emphasizing interdisciplinary approach required effective findings offer practical guidance planners architects design landscapes.

Urban green spaces (UGSs) play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life cities, particularly rapidly urbanizing regions such as Metropolitan Region São Paulo (MRSP). However, significant challenges related to equitable management and access persist, often exacerbated by socio-environmental inequalities. While much existing literature on UGS focuses developed economies, there is gap our understanding how community engagement influences outcomes emerging which face unique socio-economic infrastructural constraints. This study addresses this investigating impact MRSP, specifically examining increased participation correlates with improved reduced inequality. Utilizing survey data from 33 municipal environmental departments across research applied correlation tests, generalized linear models, non-parametric analysis variance evaluate relationships between engagement, coverage, The findings reveal moderate positive alongside negative Increased levels were associated greater UGSs reduction disparities groups. These results underscore potential fostering involvement promote urban equity sustainability through institutional support transparent information sharing. Future should focus longitudinal studies better understand long-term effects sustained incorporate qualitative members provide more comprehensive participatory processes. Additionally, expanding scope include informal private will offer holistic greening dynamics.

Rapid urbanization has resulted in decreased biodiversity, adversely impacting ecosystem functions and human health, especially rural regions. Biomechanics-informed planning integrates principles of biological mechanics with biodiversity enhancement public health objectives to establish sustainable communities. Purpose: This study aims foster resilient ecosystems healthier populations by introducing biomechanics-informed approaches that synergize promotion. Methods: bridges the knowledge gap examining relationship among biomechanically efficient behaviors, personal ecosystem-based disaster risk reduction (EDRR) through lens Health Belief Model (HBM). Structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed investigate correlations between study's key variables. The research focused on a community impacted test hypotheses, exploring strategies facilitate development enhancement. Results: findings indicate perceptions EDRR attributes indirectly influence behaviors. Specifically, participation activities support is positively associated social integration benefits, awareness, Conclusion: underscores potential integrate biomechanics into Emergency Disaster Risk Reduction initiatives encourage healthy lifestyles enhance environmental sustainability

Health clinic gardens (HCGs) are social-ecological systems (SESs) associated with health clinics on government land and intended to provide fresh vegetables fruits patients struggling keep healthy immune systems. Little is known about their comparability other garden types regards plant distribution potential utilization, thus address some of the challenges limiting ecosystem services (ESs) provision in types. In this study, we report floristic composition presence utilitarian species at 105 HCGs across a district municipality North-West Province, South Africa. Different micro-gardens, including vegetable, medicinal, ornamental, natural vegetation, bare soil, orchard, hedge, lawn were identified. To understand composition, classified according status origin, invasive characteristics, Raunkiaer's life-forms, growth forms, usefulness. determine frequency occurrence enumerated number containing respective species. Six-hundred thirty-three from 404 genera 116 families encountered. Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers. Urochloa mosambicensis (Hack.) Dandy, found 91 % 79 gardens, respectively, occurred most. Herbaceous most dominant, Schkuhria pinnata (Lam.) Kuntze ex Thell. Conyza bonariensis Cronquist occurring Plant richness was greater ornamental (282 species) area (naga) (281 while hedge had least (8 species). Fifty-five percent vegetation micro-garden indigenous, compared 44 micro-garden. There diversity fruit-bearing plants, medicinal (70 %) used as tonic. resemble home well positioned enhance ESs community scale. Future research should evaluate usage extent which knowledge useful plants efficient gardening practices upscaled around HCGs.
