This work describes the development of a method for extraction methylxanthines from cocoa bean shell (CBS) by employing novel Energized Dispersive Guided Extraction (EDGE) system. The mixtures were composed ethanol-methanol-water and ratio was optimized using simplex-centroid design. Doehlert design (DD) used to optimize variables temperature time while methylxanthine content obtained HPLC-DAD as an analytical response. mixture consisted water-ethanol in 3:2 ratio. optimum operating conditions achieved at 148.5 °C 382 s. Under optimal conditions, 20.14 mg g-1 DM theobromine 3.53 caffeine found CBS extract. Methylxanthines quantified with good linearity, LOQs, LODs, precision, accuracy. EDGE system, newly automated instrument, has proven be very efficient recovery caffeine, is considered green procedure, demonstrated greenness metric sample preparation.
