Large quantities of abandoned marine soft soil are generated from coastal engineering which cannot be directly utilized for construction without modification. The utilization traditional binders to modify yields materials with favorable mechanical properties and cost efficiency. However, the production like cement leads environmental pollution. This study uses a CGF all-solid-waste binder (abbreviated as CGF) composed industrial solid waste such calcium carbide residue (CCR), ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS), fly ash (FA), developed by our research team, modification (referred modified soil). It is noteworthy that in this was obtained area Jiaozhou Bay, Qingdao, China. Physical property tests, compaction unconfined compressive strength (UCS) tests were conducted on soil. investigation analyzed effects content, delay time, curing time physical, compaction, CGF-modified cement-modified Additionally, microscopic experimental results integrated elucidate improvement mechanisms show after binders, water content significantly decreases due both physical mixing chemical reactions. With an increase impact reactions reducing gradually surpasses mixing, plasticity notably modifies. addition optimum moisture decrease maximum dry density soil, while increases Moreover, curve shifts downward right, it upward left. soils shows declining trend exhibits slight decrease. compacted determined initial ratio, time. process Bay can delineated into stages formation, formation primarily involve alkali excitation reaction itself, pozzolanic reaction, ion-exchange carbonization reaction. Through quantitative calculations, carbon footprint unit lower than those cement.

Traditional dredged sludge disposal methods are characterized by low resource utilization and high carbon emissions, leading to serious environmental pollution. This study used sludge, composted pig manure, sawdust as raw materials, supplemented them with composite biological agents prepare improved soil. Plant adaptability the soil was comprehensively evaluated using factors such seed germination index (GI). The alkaline nitrogen content in increased 78.61% compared of other nutrients available potassium also varying degrees. Ryegrass GI 51.06% (IS1) sludge. main dominant fungi were Tausonia, Trichoderma, Cystoflobasidium, which promote nutrient activation antagonize pathogenic bacteria, making environment more conducive plant growth. Dredged successfully converted into planting Fully utilizing nitrogen, phosphorus, substances enriched provide for growth is an efficient method achieve utilization.

Abstract The Serayu Watershed is considered one of the invaluable areas as it has a crucial role in ecosystem, water supply, and sustainability local communities. Land conversion into agricultural become inevitable caused immense erosion along watershed. Consequently, degradation upstream promoted significant sedimentation Mrica Reservoir. As continues to increase, storage capacity reservoir drops triggers its inherent challenges for management. PT Indonesia Power implemented dredged overcome these issues; however, waste from deposited sediment poses new concern that requires solution. Considering most accumulated soil part topsoil, which generally rich nutrients such nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, employment planting media should serve alternatives problem Reservoir elements are essential plant growth. Using medium will help reduce volume sustainable approach, also increases reservoir’s efficiency. Studies related utilization Mrica-deposited be discussed this paper. might possess an innovation great potential problems while increasing productivity.

This study delves into the quality and quantity of sediment in Great Bačka Canal near Vrbas, examining its physicochemical composition over a span twenty years. The primary aim is to enhance monitoring risk assessment methodologies while advocating for paradigm shift management—from treating sediments as waste recognizing them valuable resources. Analyzing samples heavy metals, including mercury, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, lead, zinc, nickel, copper, alongside polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), provides insights contamination levels trends. results revealed that concentrations lead were within second class, indicating there was no immediate environmental hazard, but ongoing necessary. Zinc levels, after initial exceedance, have decreased are now acceptable limits, whereas nickel concentrations, though reduced, remain potential ecological risk. Copper persistently exceed remediation thresholds, severe requires intervention. PAH generally below regulatory suggesting moderate pollution with significant threat benthic communities. highlights effectiveness recent control measures, underscores challenges management. need more integrated sustainable management approaches align international standards circular economy principles. Recommendations include adopting comprehensive frameworks, exploring beneficial uses sediment, fostering innovation reuse outcomes sustainability.

Over 60% of European soils are unhealthy according to the Soil Mission board estimates and indicators presented in Union (EU) degradation dashboard. The situation may worsen if no policy interventions taken. unsustainable use natural resources, particular soils, precipitates biodiversity loss, exacerbated by climate crisis. In particular, EU alone, soil costs over €50 billion per year due loss essential services they provide impact on human health. Here a more precise estimation cost related set processes, ranging between €40.9 72.7 is presented. This newly updated estimate compared Impact assessment Monitoring Law takes into account erosion, contamination, phosphorus losses, carbon nitrogen compaction, sealing. However, this might double it added floods, droughts, off-site effects health consequences contamination. Therefore, further research needed address knowledge gap missing costs. critical issue with transboundary implications that requires urgent attention action at level. substantial, both terms environmental impacts economic consequences, highlighting importance investing sustainable management practices harmonized monitoring system. By addressing through proposed Law, significant amounts for innovation Mission, promoting international cooperation, can take solid steps toward protecting its resources achieving future all.
