The rapid urbanization witnessed in developing countries Asia and Africa has led to a substantial increase municipal solid waste (MSW) generation. However, the corresponding disposal strategies, along with constraints land resources finances, compounded by unorganized public behaviour, have resulted ineffective policy implementation monitoring. This lack of systematic targeted orientation, combined blind mapping, inefficient development many areas. review examines key challenges MSW management from 2012 2022, drawing insights 171 academic papers. Rather than solely focusing on recycling, study proposes sorting at source, optimization landfill practices, thermal treatment measures, strategies capitalize value as more pertinent solutions aligned local realities. Barriers optimizing systems arise socio-economic factors, infrastructural limitations, cultural considerations. emphasizes importance integrating area into circular economy framework, focus enhancing citizen participation reduction promoting recycling initiatives, seeking economic assistance international organizations.

The integration of circular economy (CE) models into everyday contexts generates huge amount data involved in goods tracking and tokenization procedures. sector blockchain platforms is extremely varied, the choice proper technology not easy. It important that selection conducted consistently with respect to CE models. With this study, we present a performance index named Blockchain Circular Economy Index (BCEI). BCEI, obtained through Multicriteria Decision Analysis Analytic Hierarchy Process, aims measure suitability needs highlighted by scenario. study contextualized comparing six platforms, for each which, related BCEI calculated. results analysis show transaction fee energy consumption are two most critical parameters. In addition, lack leading Thus, there market space can be exploited given growing interest digital sustainable issues.

The European Union (EU) is moving towards sustainable development, and a key role played by circular economy (CE) models geared reducing pressure on natural resources, generating jobs fostering economic opportunities. Indicators are able to aggregate variety of information their use, through the use multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA), allows performance alternatives be monitored. This work aims calculate EU27 in years 2019 2020 according 15 CE indicators available Eurostat. results Analytic Hierarchy process show that greatest impact circularity determined category ‘competitiveness innovation’, which together with ‘global sustainability resilience’ accounts for two thirds overall weight. MCDA Belgium prevails both baseline alternative scenarios, ahead Italy Netherlands respectively. In general, policies see western countries excel, while eastern weaker. implications this highlight three main barriers development models: (i) illegal waste management; (ii) lack knowledge low level investment technologies (iii) distribution value among stakeholders. way, resource management based will enable Europe meet challenges less dependence imported raw materials.

Digital technology has revolutionized our lives, but it also presents a growing challenge: digital waste. This issue involves electronic, data, and obsolete devices, causing significant environmental social consequences. To tackle this, multi-faceted approach is needed, including ethical considerations, policy interventions, technological innovations, consumer behavior change. Ethical frameworks, strengthened regulatory eco-design, producer responsibility, circular economy principles are essential. Industry best practices innovations can reduce waste, while education change initiatives encourage informed habits. Sustainable require concerted effort from all stakeholders.
