ABSTRACT While the distribution of extracellular ARGs (eARGs) in environment has been widely reported, factors governing their release remain poorly understood. Here, we combined multi-omics and direct experimentation to test whether transmission eARGs are associated with viral lysis heat during cow manure composting. Our results reveal that proportion increased 2.7-fold composting, despite a significant concomitant reduction intracellular ARG abundances. This relative increase was driven by composting temperature ARG-carrying bacteria based on metagenome-assembled genome (MAG) analysis. Notably, thermal mesophilic carrying key factor releasing at thermophilic phase, while played relatively stronger role non-thermal phase Furthermore, MAG-based tracking combination transformation experiments demonstrated released pose potential risk. study provides bioinformatic experimental evidence undiscovered co-driving spread compost microbiomes via horizontal transfer environmentally DNA. Vermiculite is a clay mineral with unique physical properties that plays significant role in plant cultivation, soil remediation, and solid waste management. In this research, we first explored how vermiculite-to-microbe interactions evolved during sludge–waste mushroom residue co-composting. Vermiculite’s addition had substantial impact on the microbial α β diversities, significantly changed community pattern, strengthened composting nutrient circulation through formation of more specialist generalist species.
