Abstract Biomass-derived biochar has gained significant attention due to its unique properties and potential applications in various fields, including asphalt pavement engineering. However, there been no comprehensive review date that systematically examines the state-of-the-art research on utilization pavements, identifies key knowledge gaps, provides recommendations for future directions. A large amount of solid waste, such as steel slag (SS), is generated annually. At the same time, shortage road construction materials becoming a concern. In this study, to recycle and reuse SS substitute for natural aggregates achieve resource conservation sustainable development roads were conducted. First, electromagnetic performance was explored evaluate its wave-absorbing properties. Next, effect different contents on heating properties, surface temperature, uniformity, ice melting time (IMT) investigated. Finally, carbon emissions assessment (CEA) conventional asphalt mixture (CAM) (SSAM) compared. Results indicated that has ferromagnetic behavior higher parameters, showing better properties than limestone. There three stages during microwave (MH): melting, moisture emitting, stabilization. addition, uniformity tends be poor with increase SS, samples 100 % content have highest standard deviation 21.04 °C 20.77 after 270 s at -10 - 20 °C. Samples containing 50 best deicing which can reduce IMT by 28.57 46.18 initial freezing temperatures thickness compared CAM. Furthermore, CEA revealed CAM SSAM's over construction's life cycle are similar (around 27,000 kg) originate mainly from mixing raw material extraction phases. However, SSAM leads environmental economic benefits provides an exemplary waste solution.

This study investigated the application of agricultural waste rice straw as fibre or filler in asphalt mixtures. Initially, physical, chemical, mineralogical and morphological characterisation products were analysed. Rise in population, urbanisation, and socioeconomic growth have led to amplified food consumption, globally. Increased consumption of vegetable oil for frying cooking various items households, restaurants, cafeterias instigates the generation millions tons waste (WCO) across jurisdictions. Inappropriate disposal hazardous WCO blocks drainages, contaminates waterbodies, exacerbates environmental degradation. Conversion into valuable products remains a realistic sustainable strategy management. This review delves recent advances deployment as low-cost feedstock non-fuel such biolubricant, bioplasticizer, bioasphalt, 3D printing resin. In this regard, work describes generation, collection, pretreatment, characterisation products. addition, major challenges future research directions conversion are highlighted before conclusion. The main aim of this study was to assess the efficacy water hyacinth stem as insulation material by analysing its thermal and acoustic performance. Several particleboards composites were prepared adding either binders or blending with other construction materials. During preparation samples, various factors including sample thickness, average particle size in degree compaction, type binder used taken into consideration. Particleboards manually compacted particles range 1–2 mm a 14 thickness showed lowest conductivity coefficient highest value weighted absorption coefficient. Additionally, mixed gypsum reached lower higher sound values than those observed for cement-based obtained under same conditions. found published literature types biomass materials suggest that has significant potential use, alone combination materials, conditioning material.
