The rapid increase in illicit drug use and its adverse health effects socio-economic consequences have reached alarming proportions recent years. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) has emerged as a highly sensitive analytical tool for the detection of low dosages drugs liquid solid samples. In present article, we review state-of-the-art SERS chemical analysis aqueous complex biological samples, including saliva, urine, blood. We also include types substrates used this purpose, pointing out advancements substrate fabrication towards quantitative qualitative drugs. Finally, conclude by providing our perspective on field SERS-based detection, presently faced challenges. Overall, provides evidence strong potential to establish itself both laboratory situ method fast identification.

Membrane desalination that enables the harvesting of purified water from unconventional sources such as seawater, brackish groundwater, and wastewater has become indispensable to ensure sustainable freshwater supply in context a changing climate. However, efficiency membrane is greatly constrained by organic fouling mineral scaling. Although extensive studies have focused on understanding or scaling separately, foulants commonly coexist with inorganic scalants feedwaters desalination. Compared individual scaling, combined often exhibits different behaviors governed foulant-scalant interactions, resembling more complex but practical scenarios than using containing only scalants. In this critical review, we first summarize performance under involving scales formed via both crystallization polymerization. We then provide state-of-the-art knowledge characterization techniques pertaining molecular interactions between scalants, which alter kinetics thermodynamics nucleation well deposition onto surfaces. further review current efforts mitigating materials development pretreatment. Finally, prospects for future research needs guide design effective control strategies improve resilience treatment compositions.
