A rod-shaped, white-pigmented, non-motile, Gram-stain-negative bacterium, designated RHL897 T , was isolated from sediments collected at the Mariana Trench Challenger Deep (10,816 m). Strain strictly aerobic and grew 4–37 °C, pH 6.0–10.0 in presence of 0–11.0 % (w/v) NaCl. Its genomic DNA G+C content 41.2%. Metabolic analysis revealed mechanisms for salt tolerance, abundant metal ion transport proteins stronger resistance to heavy metals such as arsenic mercury compared closest reference strains, likely linked adaptation hadal sediment environment. The predominant menaquinone MK-7, major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, an unidentified aminophospholipid glycolipid. main fatty acids iso-C 15 : 0 summed feature 3 (C 16 1 ω7c and/or C ω6c ) 17 3OH. exhibited highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity type strain Pedobacter indicus (97.9%) Albibacterium bauzanense (96.1%). Phylogenetic trees constructed based on sequences a 549 core set indicated that closely related P. A. with all three species clustering within distinct clade. Combined analyses average nucleotide identity, amino acid identity digital DNA–DNA hybridization, represented novel genus which name profundi sp. nov. is proposed. (=MCCC 1K09221 =KCTC 102276 ). Furthermore, revised phylogeny inclusion suggested should be reclassified under renamed indicum .

Significant regional variations in seawater characteristics (temperature, salinity, pH, nutrients) exist across marine environments, yet their impacts on abalone gastrointestinal microbiota and metabolites remain underexplored. This study investigated nutrient pH interactions gut ecosystems through comparative analysis of three regions (Pingtan (PT), Xiapu (XP), Lianjiang (LJ)). Seawater revealed distinct patterns: LJ exhibited the lowest total phosphorus (TP: 0.12 mg/L), nitrogen (TN: 2.8 NH3-N (0.05 mg/L) but highest salinity (32.1‰) (7.82), while PT/XP showed elevated nutrients 0.24–0.28 mg/L; TN: 4.2–4.5 mg/L). Microbial diversity peaked samples (Shannon index: 5.8) with dominant genera Psychrilyobacter (12.4%) Bradyrhizobium (9.1%), contrasting PT’s Mycoplasma-enriched communities (18.7%) XP’s Vibrio-dominant profiles (14.3%). Metabolomic identified 127 differential (VIP > 1.5, p < 0.05), predominantly lipids (38%) organic acids (27%), pathway enrichment sulfur relay (q = 4.2 × 10−5) tryptophan metabolism 1.8 10−4). Stomach-specific correlated fatty acid degradation (e.g., inosine diphosphate, r −0.82 vibrionimonas) glutathione (methionine vs. mycoplasma, −0.79). Critically, negative correlations beneficial (oleamide: −0.68) positive associations pathogenic Vibrio (trigonelline: 0.72). Elevated (>0.15 TP (>0.25 promoted Mycoplasma proliferation (R2 0.89) alongside cytotoxic metabolite accumulation. These findings demonstrate that higher (>8.0) overload disrupt microbial symbiosis, favoring pathogens over taxa.
