The interaction between antibiotics and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in freshwater ecosystems has become a critical environmental concern. This study investigates seasonal variations of sulfonamide tetracycline their relationship with ARGs three urban reservoirs Nanjing, China: Pingshan Forest Park, Shanhu Lake Wetland Zhaoqiao Reservoir. Sampling was conducted May September 2023 to assess water quality, concentrations, ARG abundance. A total 30 samples were analyzed regard physicochemical parameters, heavy metals, antibiotics. quantitative PCR assay used measure the abundance relative 16S rRNA gene. Sulfonamide concentrations ranged from 120 ng/L, while tetracyclines 50–160 ng/L. Notably, sulfamethazine decreased significantly two (Shanhu Zhaoqiao, p < 0.05), other showed minimal variation, indicating persistent contamination agricultural runoff wastewater discharge. lower than September, being cumulatively genes. Strong correlations (r > 0.7) observed parameters like dissolved oxygen pH. High levels areas without nearby hospitals or pharmaceutical companies, implicating agriculture as major pollution source. By analyzing across eutrophic China, we highlight drivers proliferation propose targeted mitigation strategies.

The development of nanoclusters (NCs) capable multicolor emissions for simultaneous detection multiple analytes has aroused tremendous interest. However, the current methods synthesizing NCs with mainly depend on a ligand strategy, which not only compromises stability but also alters their physicochemical properties. Herein, we propose novel strategy designing single-ligand capped bimetallic Au/Os fluorescence by adjusting size NCs. This size-controlled, encapsulation enhances and compatibility ensures uniformity in properties, thereby overcoming limitations inherent multiligand systems. By meticulously modulating reaction parameters, achieved precise tuning size, resulting synthesis fluorescent displaying blue (465 nm), green (507 yellow (560 nm) emissions. These were then incorporated into an array system differentiation tetracyclines (TCs) virtue interaction TCs through inner filter effect (IFE). Finally, each TC elicited unique response, was subsequently analyzed principal component analysis. sensor been successfully employed milk, urine, water, demonstrating its practical application potential. developed this work holds great promise

Abstract Traditional genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have primarily focused on detecting main genotype effects, often overlooking genotype-environment interactions (GxE), which are essential for understanding context-specific genetic effects and refining disease etiology. Here, we present fastGxE, a scalable effective GxE method designed to identify variants that interact with environmental factors influence traits of interest. fastGxE controls both polygenic interaction is robust the number involved in interactions, ensures scalability analysis large biobank studies, achieving speed improvements 32.98-126.49 times over existing approaches. We illustrate benefits through extensive simulations an in-depth 32 physical 67 blood biomarkers from UK Biobank. In real data applications, identifies nine genomic loci associated traits, including six novel ones, 26 biomarkers, 19 novel. The new discoveries highlight dynamic interplay between genetics environment, uncovering potentially clinically significant pathways could inform personalized interventions treatment strategies.

ABSTRACT Many complex disorders are impacted by the interplay of genetic and environmental factors. In gene‐environment interactions (GxE), an individual's epigenetic makeup impacts response to exposures. Understanding GxE can impact health at individual, community, population levels. The rapid expansion research in biomedical studies for diseases raises many unique ethical, legal, social implications (ELSIs) that have not been extensively explored addressed. This review article builds on discussions originating from a workshop held National Institute Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) Human Genome Research (NHGRI) January 2022, entitled: “Ethical, Legal, Social Implications Gene‐Environment Interaction Research.” We expand upon multiple key themes inform broad recommendations general guidance addressing some most challenging ELSI research. Key takeaways include strategies approaches establishing sustainable community partnerships, incorporating determinants justice considerations into research, effectively communicating translating findings, privacy discrimination concerns all going forward. Additional guidelines, resources, approaches, training, capacity building required further support innovative multidisciplinary teams.
