Plant tissue culture is a fundamental and widely applied technique in plant biology agriculture. The angiosperm family Elaeagnaceae comprises three genera and ca. 100 species distributed mainly in Eurasia North America. Little family-wide phylogenetic biogeographic research on has been conducted, limiting the application preservation of natural genetic resources. Here, we reconstructed a strongly supported framework to better understand inter- intrageneric relationships, as well origin biogeographical history family. For this purpose, used both nuclear plastid sequences from Hyb-Seq genome skimming approaches reconstruct well-supported phylogeny and, along with current distributional data, infer historical processes. Our analyses data support monophyly each genera. Elaeagnus was resolved sister clade Hippophae Shepherdia. relationships were also resolved. High levels gene tree conflict cytonuclear discordance detected within Elaeagnus, our suggest putative ancient recent hybridization. We inferred that originated at 90.48 Ma (95% CI = 89.91–91.05 Ma), long-distance dispersal likely played major role shaping its intercontinentally disjunct distribution. Abstract The discontinuous geographic distribution pattern of plants in the north temperate zone has been a focus biogeographic research, especially concerning mechanisms behind formation such and spatial temporal evolution this intermittent pattern. Hypotheses boreotropical origin, land bridge migration, out‐of‐Tibet have proposed to explain Lonicera shows typical Europe–Asia–North America distribution, which makes for good case study investigate above three hypotheses. Both phylogenetic analyses found section Isika polyphyletic, while sections Nintooa , Isoxylosteum Coelxylosteum were monophyletic subgenus Chamaecerasus . Based chloroplast phylogeny, suggest transferring maximowiczii tangutica into Reconstruction ancestral areas suggests that originated Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau (QTP) and/or Asia, subsequently dispersed other regions. aridification Asian interior may facilitated rapid radiation region. Abstract The South China mainland and nearby islands are biodiversity hotspots. Section Nintooa , widely distributed across China, Vietnam, Hainan Island, exhibits a typical disjunct distribution pattern. However, the origins of flora Island phylogenetic relationships within remain contentious. In this study, we collected 81 samples encompassing all recognized species along with from other sections Lonicera . We reconstructed using 491 orthologous nuclear genes complete plastomes generated by target enrichment genome skimming sequencing. Our gene-based concatenated trees support monophyly tree indicates that Vietnamese populations form sister clades. plastome results indicate is polyphyletic, subsection Volubilis forming monophyletic group Calcaratae clade members subgenus Chamaecerasus hybridization network analysis reveals extensive gene flow whereas shows no leaving origin unclear. exhibit unstable positions underwent rapid radiation during Miocene.
