Despite the overarching history of species divergence, phylogenetic studies often reveal distinct topologies across regions genome. The sources these gene tree discordances are variable, but incomplete lineage sorting (ILS) and hybridization among those with most significant biological importance. Petunia serves as a classic system for studying in wild. While field suggest that is frequent, extent reticulation within its closely related genera has never been examined from perspective. In this study, we used transcriptomic data 11 Petunia, 16 Calibrachoa, 10 Fabiana to illuminate relationships between investigate whether played role diversification clade. We identified discordance can be explained by high levels ILS due their rapid events. Moreover, network analyses indicated have different chromosome numbers. Although cannot hybridize at present time, ancestral could parallel radiations, they share same habitat life history.
