Abstract Understanding how continental radiations are assembled across space and time is a major question in macroevolutionary biology. Here, we use phylogenomic-scale phylogeny, comprehensive morphological dataset, environmental niche models to evaluate the relationship between trait environment assess role of geography conservatism radiation Australian blindsnakes. The Australo-Papuan blindsnake genus, Anilios, comprises 47 described species which 46 endemic distributed various biomes on Australia. Although expected blindsnakes be morphologically conserved, found considerable interspecific variation all traits measured. Absolute body length negatively correlated with mean annual temperature, shape ratios soil compactness. We that similar likely not result ecological convergence. Age-overlap correlation tests revealed similarity decreased relative age speciation events. also low geographical overlap suggesting largely allopatric rates secondary range overlap. Our study offers insights into eco-morphological evolution potential for phylogenetic influence scale radiations.

Erythrotrichia (Erythropeltales, Rhodophyta) is a group of widely distributed marine epiphytic algae. With the advancement molecular biology in recent years, classification this genus has undergone significant changes, revealing several morphologically indistinguishable cryptic species. In study, we collected species from Bohai Sea coast China, proposed new species— bohanensis sp. nov. based on laboratory culture, morphological observation and phylogenetic analysis. Phylogenetic analyses, including rbc L SSU gene sequence demonstrated that clusters into an independent branch with high Maximum Likelihood (ML) bootstrap values Bayesian Inference phylogenies (BI) posterior probabilities. The characterized by unbranched, filamentous thallus exhibits both asexual sexual reproduction. main differences are primarily reflected its reproduction process. carpogonium spermatium formed expansion division vegetative cells, fertilization occurs outside thallus. establishment underscores diversity within taxon implies additional morphological, molecular, genetic information essential for more precise identification.

Groups with morphological stasis are an interesting framework to address putative cryptic species that may be hidden behind traditional taxonomic treatments, particularly when distribution ranges suggest disjunct and environmentally heterogeneous biogeographic patterns. Abstract Conservation and sustainable management of lineages providing non‐timber forest products are imperative under the current global biodiversity loss. Most species, however, lack genomic studies that characterize their intraspecific variation evolutionary history, which inform species' conservation practices. Contrary to many in Andean hotspot exhibit high diversification, genus Parajubaea (Arecaceae) has only three species despite genus' origin 22 million years ago.
