Patients with prostate cancer are often in psychological distress and pain preoperatively. The aim of this study was to examine the effects preoperative anxiety, depression on quality postoperative recovery acute after radical prostatectomy. One hundred sixty patients scheduled for open or laparoscopic prostatectomy were enrolled a prospective observational study. Psychological assessed State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-S STAI-T) Center Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D). Postoperative days 1-3 using Quality Recovery-40 score (QoR-40). Numeric rating scale 0-10 used assess intensity at rest movement 1, 6 24 hours post-surgery. In linear regression models, STAI-S predictor QoR-40 (ß=-17.32; p<0,001, ß=-0.345; p=0.004, ß=-0.326; p=0.002, respectively), (ß=0.666; p=0.008) (ß=0.691; p=0.006). logistic clinically significant (OR, 2.86; 95% CI 1.11-7.36) 2.21; CI, 1.08-4.52). conclusion, state anxiety had negative impact QoR Preoperative associated pain.

Dysregulation of the endocannabinoid (eCB) system is implicated in various stress-related neuropsychiatric disorders (SRDs), including anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In this systematic review meta-analysis, our objectives were to characterize circulating anandamide (AEA) 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG) concentrations at rest response acute laboratory-based psychosocial individuals with SRDs without (controls). Our primary aims assess effects on eCB controls (Aim 1), compare baseline (prestress) between 2), explore differential responses compared 3).

Mental stress is a commonly occurring phenomenon that impacts people from diverse backgrounds and associated with numerous physical psychological illnesses. The brain plays vital role in how individuals perceive react to stress, including their physiological behavioral responses. In this study, our objective was investigate the impact of varying levels induced ranging mild severe, on activity. Our primary interest determine if mental would influence neural coordination, as assessed through intertrial phase clustering (ITPC). Furthermore, we hypothesized an increase perceived result reduced regional connectivity measured via phase-lag index (PLI). EEG data 41 participants (20 females, 21 males, age range 18 46; mean = 26.1; SD 7.06) were collected while they exposed three using parametric modulation study design. Following pre-processing, extracted two mentioned features performed statistical analysis. As additional analysis, discriminatory power these Random Forest classifier. Statistical analysis revealed significant decrease ITPCs over frontal, central, parietal regions accompanying increased stress. results obtained PLI showed frontocentral, frontoparietal, centroparietal regions. classification Forrest classifier predict 83.78% accuracy. These findings indicate phase-based could serve novel neurometric for quantifying vivo levels. contribute developing more precise tools measure objectively.

Prepulse inhibition (PPI) of the startle reflex serves as a pre-cognitive marker sensorimotor gating, and its deficit may predict cognitive impairments. Startle is modulated by many factors. Among them, stress has been topic interest, but effects on both variables continue to yield divergent results. This study aims analyze effect acute PPI function (working memory, attention, inhibition, verbal fluency). Participants were exposed MAST induction protocol or stress-neutral task: group (n = 54) control 54). Following induction, participants' responses recorded, cognition was assessed. The results revealed that participants in exhibited greater magnitude, lower PPI, scores working memory tests compared with group. Additionally, correlation found between across all participants, independent These findings support notion after stress, magnitude diminished could play an adaptive role allowing for increased processing stimuli potentially dangerous stress-related. Similarly, our lend hypothesis be predictive impairment. Abstract The rise of stress studies has led to the existence multiple induction protocols. However, cultural differences in reactivity are often overlooked. Therefore, this study aims validate Maastricht Acute Stress Test (MAST) Spanish population. A sample 96 young adult participants was divided into an experimental group and a control based on whether they were exposed MAST or non-stressful task. State anxiety positive negative affects measured before immediately after protocol, while physiological (blood pressure heart rate) monitored throughout experiment. exhibited increase state anxiety, affect, systolic diastolic blood pressures protocol. Participants with higher psychopathological risk presented scores psychological than those lower risk. Finally, it found that mathematical performance anxious following stressor exposure. Our results confirm efficacy its validation for use

Stress is a major external factor threatening creative activity. The study explored whether left-lateralized activation in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex manipulated through transcranial direct current stimulation could alleviate stress-induced impairment creativity. Functional near-infrared spectroscopy was used to explore underlying neural mechanisms. Ninety female participants were randomly assigned three groups that received stress induction with sham stimulation, true (anode over left and cathode right cortex), control manipulation respectively. Participants underwent or task after manipulation, then completed Alternative Uses Task measure Behavioral results showed reduced responses heart rate anxiety. functional revealed alleviated dysfunction of under stress, as evidenced by higher frontopolar cortex, well stronger inter-hemispheric intra-hemispheric connectivity within cortex. Major depressive disorder (MDD), a common psychiatric condition, adversely affects patients' moods and quality of life. Despite the development various treatments, many patients with MDD remain vulnerable inadequately controlled. Since anhedonia is feature depression there evidence leading to metabolic disorder, DBS nucleus accumbens (NAc) might be promising in modulating dopaminergic pathway. To determine whether NAc-DBS alters glucose metabolism via mitochondrial alteration neurogenesis these changes increase neural plasticity that improves behavioral functions chronic social defeat stress (CSDS) mouse model. The Lab-designed MR-compatible probes were implanted bilateral NAc C57BL/6 mice without CSDS, followed by or sham stimulation. All animals underwent open-field sucrose preference testing, brain resting-state functional MRI analysis. Meanwhile, we checked placement each T2 images. By confirming location, incorrect probe (the negative control group) showed no significant therapeutic effects performance connectivity (FC) after receiving electrical stimulation excluded from further Western blotting, seahorse analysis, electron microscopy applied for investigation NAc-DBS. We found restored emotional deficits CSDS-subjected mice. Concurrent amelioration, CSDS DBS-on group exhibited enhanced FC pathway increased expression BDNF- NeuN-positive cells dopamine D1 receptor, D2 receptors, TH medial prefrontal cortex, NAc, ventral hippocampus, tegmental area, amygdala. Increased pAMPK/total AMPK PGC-1α levels, oxidative phosphorylation, biogenesis also observed treatment. Our findings demonstrate can promote BDNF expression, which profile pathway, suggesting potential strategy ameliorating processes individuals MDD.
