Trends in Healthcare-Acquired Infections Due to Multidrug-Resistant Organisms at a German University Medical Center Before and During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Background: Healthcare-acquired infections due to multidrug-resistant organisms (MDR-HAIs) pose globally significant challenges healthcare systems, leading increased morbidity, mortality, and costs. According the World Health Organization, COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted burden of MDR-HAIs. The aim this study was investigate dynamics epidemiology MDR-HAIs in inpatients at University Leipzig Medical Center (ULMC) before during pandemic.
