Background The global outbreak of COVID-19 has brought to light the profound impact that large-scale disease outbreaks can have on healthcare systems and dedicated professionals who serve within them. It becomes increasingly important explore strategies for retaining nurses physicians hospital settings during such challenging times. This paper aims investigate determinants retention among pandemic. Method A systematic review other potential impacting rates pandemic was carried out. Secondly, a meta-analysis prevalence intention leave Findings comprehensive search performed four electronic databases March 17 2023. Fifty-five papers were included in review, whereas thirty-three fulfilled eligibility criteria meta-analysis. resulted six themes leave: personal characteristics, job demands, employment services, working conditions, work relationships, organisational culture. main are fear COVID-19, age, experience, burnout symptoms support. Meta-analysis showed intent current 38% (95% CI: 26%-51%) 29% 21%-39%), profession 28% 21%-34%) 24% 23%-25%). Conclusion findings this critical need managers address concerning increase nurses’ physicians’ intentions is affected by complex conjunction multiple determinants, including confidence availability protective equipment. Moreover, individual factors like symptoms, support maintained review. Understanding influence offers an opportunity formulate prospective settings.

Abstract Aim The aim of this study was to present the third position statement from International Learning Collaborative (ILC). ILC is foremost global organization dedicated transforming fundamental care. Internationally, care reported be poorly delivered, delayed or missed, negatively impacting patients, their families/carers and healthcare staff systems. Overcoming challenge requires profound transformation in how our systems value, deliver evaluate This will take both evolutionary revolutionary guises. In statement, we argue [r]evolutionary for can must created within clinical practice. Design Position paper. Methods stems ILC's annual conference Leadership Program held Portland, Maine, USA, June 2023. draws on discussions between participants authors' subsequent reflections synthesis these ideas. involved ( n = 209) 13 countries working primarily Results focuses what occur transform valued, prioritized delivered practice settings globally. To ensure demonstrable change, comprises four action‐oriented strategies that systematically owned by leaders embedded organizations systems: Address non‐nursing tasks: reclaim protect time provide high‐value Accentuate positive: change deficit‐based affirmative language when describing Access evidence assess impact: demonstrate generating relevant indicators impact measures rigorously synthesizing existing research. Advocate interprofessional collaboration: support high‐quality, transdisciplinary delivery via strong nursing leadership. Conclusion Maine Statement calls ongoing action – [r]evolution prioritize throughout Implications Profession and/or Patient Care We outline substantially delivered. Specific actions are outlined, providing a road map continue Impact Fundamental affects everyone across life course, regardless context, condition, age presence disability. represents call specifically practice, urging them up leadership experience Public Contribution Patients, service users caregivers were conference, thus contributing shaped statement. What Does Paper Contribute Wider Global Clinical Community? outlined all globally, practical employed enhance patients families/carers. By outlining importance identify ways which globally begin making necessary steps towards radical transformation, where they journey.

Abstract Background This study investigated the mediating and moderating impact of core self-evaluations in path from emotional labor to burnout. Our hypothesized associations are based on Hobfoll (Rev Gen Psychol 6:307–24, 2002) conservation resources theory. Method Three hundred nurses four hospitals Abadan, Iran, were invited participate our study. Of 300, 255 completed all sections questions survey for an 85% response rate. The posited direct indirect effects evaluated with structural equation modeling interaction hierarchical moderated regression simple slope plots. Result Deep acting has burnout through self-evaluations. Though unrelated surface acting, moderate its impact: under low self-evaluations, is strongly related exhaustion inversely personal accomplishment, whereas, high these dimensions. Conclusion findings reveal dual functions CSE as a psychological resource buffer offset interpersonal demands patient care. Limitations, directions future research, practical implications discussed.

Abstract Background This study aimed to secure and analyze evidence regarding the enhancement of nursing students’ empathy through simulation-based interventions. It comprehensively analyzed self-reported emotions reactions as primary outcomes, along with results reported by students who experienced interventions, including empathy. Methods systematic literature review meta-analysis investigated effects interventions on enhancing among students. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses guidelines were used meta-analysis. following details considered: population, students; intervention, targeting enhancement; comparators, control groups without intervention or those undergoing general non-simulation-based classes; Results In 28 studies, it was found that use led an increase in empathy, albeit a small effect size. demonstrated pooled, random-effects meta-analysis, yielding size (Hedge’s g) 0.35 (95% CI: 0.14, 0.57, p = 0.001). meta-regression subgroup analysis significantly increased studies published after 2019 g 0.52, 95% 0.31 0.73, < 0.001), quasi-experimental research design 0.51, 0.27 0.74, more than 60 participants 0.31, 0.02 0.59, 0.034), education 0.43, 0.22 0.65, Conclusions Considering factors such variations sample size, approaches, independent this suggests can improve overall skills.

Abstract Background Healthcare systems are operating under substantial pressures, and often simply cannot provide the standard of care they aspire to within available resources. Organisations, managers, individual clinicians make constant adaptations in response these which typically improvised, highly variable not coordinated across clinical teams. The purpose this study was identify describe types everyday pressures experienced by surgical teams adaptive strategies use respond pressures. Methods We conducted interviews with 20 senior multidisciplinary healthcare professionals from four major hospitals United Kingdom. explored staff were experiencing, adapt, how might be taught others. Results primary described surgery increased numbers complexity patients alongside shortages staff, theatre space post-surgical beds. These led more difficult working conditions (e.g. high workloads) problems system functioning such as patient flow cancellation lists. Strategies for responding categorised into increasing or flexing resources, controlling prioritising demand managing workload (scheduling efficiency, communication coordination, leadership, teamwork strategies). Conclusions Teams deploying a range making way is delivered. findings could used basis training programmes develop adapting pressure assess impact different combinations on safety outcomes.

The safety of patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) is significantly impacted by inadequate staffing nursing professionals to meet demand for critically ill patients. COVID-19 increased nurses' workload, particularly high-intensity settings like ICU. To evaluate association workload and number per professional with occurrence adverse events death This a retrospective cohort study. study analysed COVID-19, aged 12 years or older, admitted between 1 April 2020 31 May 2021 ICU hospital Brazil. Nursing was measured Activities Score (NAS). independent variables were ratio NAS score (NNR) (PNR). Dependent included (pressure injuries health care-associated infections-HAIs) Of 386 patients, 59.59% male median age 60.5 years.
