Emerging Infectious Diseases (EIDs) and Re-Emerging (REIDs) constitute significant health problems are becoming of major importance. Up to 75% EIDs REIDs have zoonotic origin. Several factors such as the destruction natural habitats leading humans animals live in close proximity, ecological changes due disasters, population migration resulting from war or conflict, interruption decrease disease prevention programs, insufficient vector control applications sanitation involved emergence distribution. War disasters a great impact on emergence/re-emergence diseases population. According World Bank estimation, two billion people living poverty fragility situations. Wars destroy systems infrastructure, curtail existing cause movement an increase exposure risks favor infectious diseases. A total 432 catastrophic cases associated with were recorded globally 2021. Natural risk EID REID outbreaks by damaging infrastructure displacement populations. Generic National Action Plan covering assessment, mechanism for action, determination roles responsibilities each sector, establishment coordination mechanism, etc. should be developed.

There is growing attention to the ways in which climate change may affect sexual health, yet key knowledge gaps remain across global contexts and issues. In response, we conducted a scoping review examine literature on associations between health. We searched five databases (May 2021, September 2022). reviewed 3,183 non-duplicate records for inclusion; n = 83 articles met inclusion criteria. Of these articles, 30 focused HIV other STIs, 52 gender-based violence (GBV), 1 comprehensive sexuality education. Thematic analysis revealed that hurricanes, drought, temperature variation, flooding, storms influence outcomes among people with by constraining access antiretroviral treatment worsening mental Climate was associated HIV/STI testing barriers worsened economic conditions elevated exposure (e.g. transactional sex). Findings varied regarding GBV most studies examining extreme temperatures, bushfires reported positive GBV. Abstract Climate change is increasing the likelihood of drought in sub-Saharan Africa, where HIV prevalence high. Drought could increase transmission through various mediating mechanisms; we investigated these associations. We used data on people aged 15–59 from Population-Based Impact Assessment surveys 2016 Eswatini, Lesotho, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. Survey were geospatially linked to precipitation for 2014–2016, with local droughts defined as cumulative rainfall between 2014 being < 15th percentile all 2-year periods over 1981–2016. Using multivariable logistic regression, stratified by sex rural/urban residence, examined associations (a) poverty, (b) wealth quintiles sexual behaviours (transactional, high-risk, intergenerational sex), (c) recently acquiring HIV, (d) recent HIV. Among 102,081 people, 31.5% resided areas affected during 2014–2016. Experiencing was positively associated poverty women men rural, but not urban, areas. Drought is one natural disaster with the greatest impact worldwide. Southern Africa (SA) susceptible and vulnerable to drought due its type of climate. In last four decades, droughts have occurred more frequently, increasing intensity impacts on ecosystems, agriculture, health. The work consists a systematic literature review regime’s characteristics in SA under current future climatic conditions, conducted Web Science Scopus platforms, using PRISMA2020 methodology, usual appropriate inclusion exclusion criteria minimize/eliminate risk bias, which lead 53 documents published after year 1987. number publications regime still very small. country most situations studied South Africa, countries fewer studies are Angola Namibia. analysis revealed that main driver ocean–atmosphere interactions, including El Niño Oscillation. used indices, evaluating descriptors for some regions, but it was not possible identify publication reports complete study regime, spatial temporal distribution all SA.

Abstract The academic literature on personal experiences of climate-induced wellbeing erosion (often conceptualised as ‘non-economic losses and damages’) is still limited. This represents a serious climate policy gap that hinders support for marginalised people across the world including Indigenous People. Lately, we have seen rapid growth in empirical studies exploring linkages between change mental health among Inuit Canada. However, its association with human (im)mobility remains unexplored. review article brings together evidence perceptions climate-related loss while providing guidance appropriate action. systematic investigates how Arctic Canada felt climatic changes impacted their putting these feelings into wider context colonial violence, forced child removal, residential schools, other rights abuses. Twelve electronic databases (four specific to research) were searched English French, peer reviewed, qualitative published 2000 2021. Fifteen selected articles analysed using NVivo thematic narrative analysis from climate-violence-health nexus systems approach. Three overarching themes, all strongly intertwined immobility, emerged namely ‘identity cultural loss’, ‘land connection source healing’, ‘changing environment triggering emotional distress’. narratives circled around land temporary interrupted this relationship. Climatic isolated away cut off ability partake activities. eroded wellbeing, expressed through distress, anxiety, depression, social tension, suicide ideation deep loss. findings showed depend sustained land. The 2015 El Niño-triggered drought in Southern Africa caused widespread economic and livelihood disruption South Africa, imposing multiple physical health challenges for rural populations including people living with HIV (PLHIV). We examined the economic, social demographic impacts of drawing on 27 in-depth interviews two cohorts PLHIV Hlabisa, uMkhanyakude district, KwaZulu-Natal. Thematic analysis revealed how drought-enforced soil water depletion, dried-up rivers, dams culminated a continuum events such as loss livestock, reduced agricultural production, insufficient access to food which was understood indirectly have negative impact treatment adherence. This mediated through disruptions incomes, livelihoods systems, increased risk general health, forced mobility exacerbation contextual vulnerabilities linked poverty unemployment. systems approach, drawn from interview themes, hypothesises complex pathways plausible networks varying socioeconomic factors, exacerbating longstanding precarity, ultimately challenging care utilisation. Understanding multidimensional relationships between climate change, especially drought, poor outcomes prism is vital shaping policy interventions.

During public health crises, people living with HIV (PLWH) may become disengaged from care. The goal of this study was to understand the impact COVID-19 pandemic and recent flooding disasters on care delivery in western Kenya. We conducted ten individual in-depth interviews providers across four facilities. used an iterative integrated inductive deductive data analysis approach generate themes. First, increased structural interruptions created exacerbating strain Second, there physical psychosocial burnout among providers. Third, patient uptake services along continuum decreased, particularly vulnerable patients. Finally, existing community-based programs teleconsultations could be adapted provide differentiated Community-centric programs, emphasis overcoming social, economic, barriers will crucial ensure optimal limit disruptions globally.
