Abstract
The
Minnesota
Longitudinal
Study
of
Risk
and
Adaptation
(MLSRA)
is
a
landmark
prospective,
longitudinal
study
human
development
focused
on
sample
mothers
experiencing
poverty
their
firstborn
children.
Although
the
MLSRA
pioneered
number
important
topics
in
area
social
emotional
development,
it
began
with
more
specific
goal
examining
antecedents
child
maltreatment.
From
that
foundation
for
than
40
years,
has
produced
significant
body
research
origins,
sequelae,
measurement
childhood
abuse
neglect.

objectives
this
report
are
to
document
early
history
its
contributions
maltreatment
review
summarize
results
from
recently
updated
neglect
coding
cohort,
particular
emphasis
findings
related
adult
adjustment.

Abstract
This
commentary
discusses
opportunities
for
advancing
the
field
of
developmental
psychopathology
through
integration
data
science
and
neuroscience
approaches.
We
first
review
elements
our
research
program
investigating
how
early
life
adversity
shapes
neurodevelopment
may
convey
risk
psychopathology.
then
illustrate
three
ways
that
techniques
(e.g.,
machine
learning)
can
support
research,
such
as
by
distinguishing
between
common
diverse
outcomes
after
stress
exposure.
Finally,
we
discuss
logistical
conceptual
refinements
aid
moving
forward.
