In 2007, the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) published its guidelines for mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) in emergency situations. This was one of first sets MHPSS guidelines, developed during last decades, to aid policymakers practitioners planning implementation disaster risk reduction activities. However, potential merit this purpose is poorly understood. The objective study review available settings assess their methodological quality. frameworks, manuals toolkits were selected via a systematic literature as well search grey literature. Abstract Aims The mental health of individuals who have been forcibly displaced can be impacted both by war-related traumatic events and displacement-related stressors , which arise as a consequence their migratory journey subsequent experiences. In addition to focusing on disorders, there is need explore broader psychosocial outcomes that are important for people. Our aim present coherent explanatory framework understand how past ongoing operating throughout people's social environment impact wellbeing. Methods We describe the capability approach (CA), human development foregrounds individuals’ freedom engage in forms being doing valuable them. consider opportunities CA provides understanding myriad factors people, different support configured meet needs particular people communities. Results recognises various share common putative causal mechanism i.e. these limit person's ability develop capabilities valued doing. rights based ethos enables multisectoral coordinated activity, directed towards addressing across environment. Importantly, helps explain why may more beneficial or communities at certain times compared others. Conclusion application help guard against risk aspirations assessment instruments interventions aimed supporting narrowly focused distress instead adopt expansive focus potential possibilities they wish realise.

Promoting mental health, preventing and treating disorders are critically important in public many randomised controlled trials (RCTs) evaluate intervention strategies for these objectives. However, distinguishing promotion from prevention treatment RCTs is challenging. A tool to place studies along the promotion-to-treatment continuum health research does not exist, leaving it researchers policymakers decide on how classify individual RCTs, which hinders evidence synthesis.

Policymakers, practitioners and academics expect mental health psychosocial support (MHPSS) interventions to have social outcomes. Surprisingly, the existing academic literature on effectiveness of MHPSS has focused almost exclusively clinical The evidence base is in that way limited. To feed research agenda (i.e., MHPSS-SET2), this scoping review analyses presence understanding outcomes grey literature. Open-access documents were systematically searched from various online databases websites organisations. Documents which describe programming low- middle-income countries for people affected by humanitarian emergencies included.
