This work emphasizes the gas sensing capabilities of MoS2/PEDOT:PSS nanohybrid-based sensors, offering a prominent candidate for detecting volatile organic compounds (VOCs) at room temperature. The composite material is synthesized by combining commercial PEDOT:PSS with MoS2 produced via hydrothermal synthesis using ultrasonication mechanical mixing. Further, pristine PEDOT:PSS, MoS2, and samples were extensively characterized various techniques to obtain detailed information about their structural, compositional, morphological properties. study reveals that exhibited highest sensitivity among tested materials 56.29% response 500 ppm ethanol. sensor increases from 12.24% as concentration analyte 25 ppm. Also, repeatability-, sensitivity-, humidity-based analyses performed evaluation sensor. recovery times nanohybrid are 8.2 2.5 s, respectively. repeatability analysis demonstrated stable performance across multiple tests percent deviations ±0.04 ± 0.35 ±0.08 under ambient conditions. computational EDOT:SS/MoS2 (002) exhibits strong oxygen adsorption energies −11.61 eV, indicating enhanced capabilities. In contrast, show lower −9.22 −11.08 Additionally, VOC on preadsorbed shows methanol ethanol affinities, while toluene hexane exhibit weaker interactions. These findings highlight support potential applications.
