An intermediate state of the plastic crystal (PC) phase between solid and liquid has attracted much attention due to its potential applications for ionic conductors, ferroelectrics, barocaloric materials. In general, it been considered difficult maintain a polarized orientation in PC loss orientational order caused by isotropic rotation molecules. this study, we succeeded realizing unique sucinonitrile (SN), which exhibits hysteresis polarization-electric field (P-E) curve. phase, trans gauche conformations coexist, conformation molecules change response an external electric field. Interestingly, polarization relaxes upon removal does not exhibit nonvolatile memory effects seen conventional ferroelectrics. However, two different mechanisms emerge molecular conformational degrees freedom. As result, characteristic double P-E behavior with coercive fields, is observed observed. This result provides important guideline design organic materials realization next-generation multilevel memory.
