Hydrogel three-dimensional (3D) printing has emerged as a highly valuable fabrication tool for applications ranging from electronics and biomedicine. While conventional hydrogels such gelatin, alginate, hyaluronic acid satisfy biocompatibility requirements, they distinctly lack reproducibility in terms of mechanical properties 3D printability. Aiming to offer high-performance alternative, here we present range amphiphilic star-shaped diblock copolypeptides l-glutamate l-leucine residues with different topologies. Hydrophobic side chains the polymer block drive conformational self-assembly water, spontaneously forming tunable properties, through variation star topology. Their amenable shear-thinning self-recovery render them suitable hydrogel inks direct ink writing. Well-defined 3D-printed structures can be readily generated rapidly photo-cross-linked using visible light (405 nm) after methacrylamide functionalization, while demonstrate good top-seeded encapsulated MC3T3 cells.

Exploring Local Reactivity of Large Systems through Combining Conceptual DFT and the GFN2-xTB Method DOI

This study evaluates the ability of GFN2-xTB method and Conceptual Density Functional Theory-derived tools to predict local reactivity in large systems. Carbon-based systems such as C60, C70, Li+@C70, C240, C360, C648, C720 have been used test sets, orbital-weighted dual descriptor was employed identify nucleophilic electrophilic regions, providing a comprehensive analysis their patterns. The results confirm that accurately reproduces profiles observed experimentally at DFT level, particularly well-known fullerenes like C60 C70. addition an endohedral Li+ cation C70 demonstrated enhanced electrophilicity reduced unfavorable consistent with previous studies. For larger less-studied systems, C720, revealed distinct features, including localization regions −C≡C– units C240/C648, ends C360 nanoparticle model, emergence zones due reduction aromaticity benzenoid rings C720. These findings validate computationally efficient alternative for exploring structures contribute valuable insights into potential applications molecular design material science nanotechnology.

Hydrogel materials have a variety of applications, ranging from biomedical and drug delivery systems, to their employment as immobilization matrices in bioprocessing applications. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is synthetic, water-soluble, biocompatible polymer. Due its physical properties when gelled, this polymer has been highlighted suitable candidate for application the industry an matrix microorganisms. This study investigates effects using various polyols co-solvent on gelation PVA-based hydrogels formed at ambient conditions, resulting properties. In addition glycerol, previously known capabilities improve used co-solvent, including erythritol (C4H10O4), xylitol (C5H12O5), sorbitol (C6H14O6) were investigated. Key investigated, including: transparency; tensile compressive strengths; diffusion coefficients; rates gelation; method gelation. It was determined that are through crosslinking rather than chemical crosslinking. The glycerol-PVA tended exhibit more photosynthetic organisms, although differences between glycerol-PVA, xylitol-PVA, sorbitol-PVA comparable often not significantly different after rehydration. investigation showed simple polyols, solid could be conditions without requirement cytotoxic chemicals, harsh or unfavorable intermediate chemicals.

Stimuli-responsive engineered living materials (ELMs) can respond to environmental or biochemical cues and have broad utility in biological sensors machines, but traditionally been limited biocompatible scaffolds. Abstract Background Acrylamide (AA), a probable human carcinogen (Group 2A) classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), has emerged as significant food safety concern worldwide. Its formation during high-temperature cooking processes, such frying, baking, and roasting of starchy foods, spurred extensive research efforts to understand its toxicity develop effective mitigation strategies. This study aims provide comprehensive bibliometric analysis scientific literature AA metabolite, glycidamide (GA), published from 1965 end 2024, focusing evolving trends emphasis related their in food. Results A 3729 Scopus articles was conducted using VOSviewer. The revealed general increase number annual publications AA. Most studies focused various types associated with AA, neurotoxicity, cytotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, utilizing different models. findings indicate growing mitigate foods response toxicity. Conclusions concludes that both quality quantity have significantly improved over time, an anticipated continued future research. trend reflects ongoing global about AA’s importance developing strategies reduce presence which implications public health safety.
