To address the serious threat of bacterial infection to public health, great efforts have been devoted development antimicrobial agents for inhibiting growth, preventing biofilm formation, and sterilization. Very recently, metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) emerged as promising materials various applications owing their different functions including controlled/stimulated decomposition components with bactericidal activity, strong interactions membranes, formation photogenerated reactive oxygen species (ROS) well high loading sustained releasing capacities other materials. This review focuses on recent advances in design, synthesis, MOF-based materials, which are classified by roles component-releasing (metal ions, ligands, or both), photocatalytic, chelation carriers or/and synergistic functional (antibiotics, enzymes, metals/metal oxides, carbon etc.). Recently, reactive iron species (RFeS) have shown great potential for the selective degradation of emerging organic contaminants (EOCs). However, rapid generation RFeS and efficient EOCs over a wide pH range is still challenging. Herein, we constructed FeN4 structures on carbon nanotube (CNT) to obtain single-atom catalysts (FeSA-N-CNT) generate in presence peroxymonosulfate (PMS). The obtained FeSA-N-CNT/PMS system exhibited outstanding reactivity oxidizing (3.0-9.0). Several lines evidences suggested that existing as an FeN4═O intermediate was predominant oxidant, while SO4·- HO· were secondary oxidants. Density functional theory calculation results revealed CNT played key role optimizing distribution bonding antibonding states Fe 3d orbital, resulting ability FeSA-N-CNT PMS chemical adsorption activation. Moreover, could significantly enhance by increasing overlap electrons O 2p bisphenol A near Fermi level. this study can advance understanding heterogeneous application real practice.

Alternative water resources (seawater, brackish water, atmospheric sewage, etc.) can be converted into clean freshwater via high-efficiency, energy-saving, and cost-effective methods to cope with the global crisis. Herein, we provide a comprehensive systematic overview of various solar-powered technologies for alternative utilization (i.e., "sunlight-energy-water nexus"), including solar-thermal interface desalination (STID), membrane (STMD), solar-driven electrochemical (SED), harvesting (ST-AWH). Three strategies have been proposed improving evaporation rate STID systems above theoretical limit designing all-weather or all-day operating by analyzing energy transfer condensation processes caused conversion. This review also introduces fundamental principles current research hotspots two other seawater (STMD SED) in detail. In addition, cover ST-AWH terms technology design, materials evolution, device assembly, etc. Finally, summarize content this discuss challenges future outlook different types technologies.
