The alteration of natural land cover to impervious surfaces during development increases stormwater runoff. Stormwater Control Measures (SCMs) are used manage water quantity and enhance quality by restoring the hydrologic cycle altered development. Often, SCMs have an outflow pipe handle overflows or release detained when infiltration is not possible. Traditionally, these static controls (e.g. a small orifice restrict volume outflow), however, systems can be improved instituting real-time (RTC). RTC improve functionality dynamically controlling outflows adjust environmental conditions. A major impediment widespread implementation high cost installation operation. This study utilized machine learning methods develop forecasting approach for low-cost that were implemented on programmable gate outlet structure multi-stage basin in southeastern Pennsylvania. goals decrease peak flow exiting rain events, increase detained, number overtopping maintain healthy vegetation basin, protect downstream from erosion. Urban stormwater typically enters sewer networks through gully pots, which allow a primary sedimentation of solids upstream the piped network.
