Marine dissolved organic matter (DOM) is an important component of the global carbon cycle, yet its intricate composition and sea salt matrix pose major challenges for chemical analysis. We introduce a direct injection, reversed-phase liquid chromatography ultrahigh resolution mass spectrometry approach to analyze marine DOM without need solid-phase extraction. Effective separation achieved with large chromatographic column extended isocratic aqueous step. Abstract Dissolved organic sulfur (DOS) is an important component of dissolved matter (DOM) and widely exists at the land‐atmosphere interface. However, characterization DOS molecular level among different environmental samples in coastal regions has not been sufficiently focused. Here, we investigated aerosol, rainwater, river water Shanghai using improved method–online liquid chromatography coupled to Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (LC‐FT‐ICR MS). The established benefits of ozone on microbial pathogen inactivation, natural organic matter degradation, and inorganic/organic contaminant oxidation have favored its application in drinking water treatment. However, viable bacteria are still present after the ozonation raw water, bringing a potential risk to membrane filtration systems terms biofilm accumulation fouling. Ozonation of drinking water and wastewater is accompanied by the formation disinfection byproducts (DBPs) such as low molecular weight aldehydes ketones from reactions ozone with dissolved organic matter (DOM). Organic matter (OM) is the most important factor influencing effectivity and efficiency of micropollutant (MP) ozonation in wastewater effluents.
