Water-soluble inorganic aerosols constitute major fraction of PM2.5 play an important role in the Earth-climate system and affect adversely on human health. However, their measurement accuracy highly vary depending choice filter media denuder usage. In most cases, denuders are either not deployed or use is partially limited to removal certain gases. Therefore, understand impact undenuded ambient sampling type depositional loading water-soluble aerosols; three (1 teflon 2 nylon based) different pore-sized was carried at a high altitude location Western Ghats during winter season. Results show gas-phase adsorption higher than hydrophobic membrane. Decreased pH overall increased conductivity observed suggested acidic species. Nylon showed increasing ionic concentration order followed Mg2+Na+>Ca2+>K+. ISORROPIA-II derived NH3 Cl(g) found teflon. Poor correlation between X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) Ion Chromatography (IC) crustal specie (Ca) showing off-set both results, however, positively correlated for secondary species (Cl−, NH4+, NO3+ SO42−). Neutralization efficiency revealed NH4+ as main neutralizer SO42− whereas teflon, Ca2+ be neutralizing component. On comparing Na+ Cl+ effects over neutralization, extensive prevalence non-seasalt sources. Concentration weighted trajectory analysis minus indicated excess semi-volatiles NO3− NH4+) mostly driven by oxidation precursory gases originating from local nearby coastal cities, non-refractory ultrafine mode inland majorly polluted North Indian region.

Abstract. Recent research has revealed the crucial role of wintertime, episodic high chloride (H-Cl) emissions in Delhi region, which significantly impact aerosol hygroscopicity and aerosol-bound liquid water, thus contributing to initiation fog episodes. However, these findings have primarily relied on modeled hygroscopicity, necessitating validation through direct measurements. This study presents measurements non-refractory bulk composition PM1 from an Aerodyne chemical speciation monitor for first-time size-resolved hygroscopic growth factors (nucleation, Aitken, accumulated mode particles) along with their associated parameters at 90 % relative humidity using a tandem differential mobility analyzer Aerosol Supersite. Our observations demonstrate that parameter particles varies 0.00 0.11 (with average 0.03 ± 0.02) 20 nm particles, 0.05 0.22 (0.11 0.03) 50 0.30 (0.14 0.04) 100 0.41 (0.18 0.06) 150 0.56 (0.22 0.07) 200 particles. Surprisingly, our period H-Cl displays notably greater (0.35 comparison spans marked by biomass burning hydrocarbon-like organic (0.17 0.05) relatively cleaner periods (0.27 0.07). initial observational proof ammonium is main factor behind water content Delhi.
