Microplastic

Given
that
a
substantial
amount
of
time
is
spent
in
kitchens
preparing
food,
the
kitchen
equipment
used
may
be
relevant

composition

microplastics
ending

dinner
plate.
While
previous
research
has
predominantly
focused
foodstuffs
as
source
microplastics,
we
emphasise
micro-
nanoplastics
are
ubiquitous

originate
from
diverse
sources.

address
existing
knowledge
gap
regarding
additional
sources
contributing
to
plates,
this
review
investigates
various
processes,
utensils
(excluding
single-use
items
foodstuffs)
get
better
understanding
potential
microplastic
within
home
kitchen.
Conducting
narrative
literature
using
terms
related
kitchenware
kitchen-affiliated
study
underscores
selection
preparation
tools,
storage,
serving,
cooking,
cleaning
procedures
have
significant
impact
exposure.
Mechanical,
physical,
chemical
processes
occurring
during
food
contribute
release
particles,
challenging
assumption
exposure
solely
tied
products
or
packaging.
