Background and objective The incidence of central precocious puberty (CPP) in girls increased significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aimed to explore impact perfluorinated endocrine disruptors on CPP through metabolomics analysis from Hainan Province, China. Methods Serum samples 100 with healthy controls were collected. Untargeted profiling was performed using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled quadrupole-Exactive Orbitrap mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q-Exactive-Orbitrap-MS). Differentially expressed metabolites (DEMs) screened, pathway enrichment conducted. Results Principal component (PCA) partial least squares discriminant (PLS-DA) revealed distinct metabolic profiles between control groups. A total 511 identified, including 296 up-regulated DEMs 255 down-regulated DEMs. Three compounds—PFSM-perfluoroalkyl_sulfonamide_Me, PFSM-FSAA, PFCA-unsaturated—were upregulated group. KEGG suggested involvement multiple pathways process regulated by these compounds. Conclusions Perfluorinated compounds may promote interfering various affecting hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis function. highlighted need for further research public health measures address environmental disruptors.

People are exposed to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) through multiple sources, with diet historically considered a major source in general populations. This study characterized legacy PFAS serum from 700 California adults examined contributions drinking water. We applied robust regression estimate associations between nontransformed concentrations, self-reported food consumption, water concentrations measured under the USEPA's third Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (2013-2015). Detectable were associated increased perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) (0.26 ng/mL; 95% CI: 0.077, 0.43), perfluorohexanesulfonic (PFHxS) (0.64 0.058, 1.23), perfluorooctanesulfonic (PFOS) (0.39 -0.76, 0.86). Seafood consumption was perfluorononanoic (PFNA) (0.013 0.0058, 0.021), perfluorodecanoic (PFDeA) (0.0059 0.0026, 0.0092), perfluoroundecanoic (PFUnDA) (0.010 0.0054, 0.015), while eggs PFDeA (0.0035 0.00010, 0.0069) PFNA (0.0073 0.00017, 0.014). Findings could indicate that dietary may be less than those earlier studies conducted other populations, possibly due shifts production over past 20 years, remains an important of exposure PFOA PFHxS this population.

This paper investigates how five PFAS congeners, namely, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorooctanesulfonic (PFOS), perfluorohexanoic (PFHxA), perfluorobutane sulfonate (PFBS) and trifluoromethanesulfonic (TFMS), interact with a high density polyethylene (HDPE) geomembrane, through equilibrium batch sorption tests, to assess its ability minimise the migration of these contaminants. The experiments show that HDPE geomembrane exhibits varying degrees uptake for different pollutants, in following order: PFBS = TFMS < PFHxA PFOA PFOS. Additionally, minimal partitioning congeners was observed, longer-chain exhibiting higher coefficients. indicates an intact can potentially slow down pollutants. PFOS exhibited slightly stronger affinity than PFOA, likely due hydrophobicity and/or electronegativity.

Surface tension, conductivity, and dynamic light scattering (DLS) measurements were used to examine the surface bulk solution behaviors of three members PFAS family, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorobutanesulfonic (PFBS), potassium salt perfluorooctanesulfonic (PFOS). Measurements carried out in solutions having variable (acidic) pH buffered = 8.0. tension data show traditional soluble surfactant behavior, results illustrate that PFOA, PFBS, PFOS activity depends sensitively on phase pH.
