An in vivo model is necessary for toxicology. This review analyzed the uses of zebrafish (Danio rerio) toxicology based on bibliometrics. Totally 56,816 publications about from 2002 to 2023 were found Web Science Core Collection, with Toxicology as top 6 among all disciplines. Accordingly, bibliometric map reveals that "toxicity" has become a hot keyword. It further most common exposure types include acute, chronic, and combined exposure. The toxicological effects behavioral, intestinal, cardiovascular, hepatic, endocrine toxicity, neurotoxicity, immunotoxicity, genotoxicity, reproductive transgenerational toxicity. mechanisms oxidative stress, inflammation, autophagy, dysbiosis gut microbiota. toxicants commonly evaluated by using nanomaterials, arsenic, metals, bisphenol, dioxin. Overall, provide unique well-accepted investigate mechanisms. We also discussed possible ways address some limitations model, such combination human organoids avoid species differences.

Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are ubiquitous in ecological environments and have become a great issue of public health concern since the 1990 s. There is deep scientific understanding toxicity EDCs. However, recent studies found that abnormal physiological functions parents caused by EDCs could be transmitted to their unexposed offspring, leading intergenerational toxicity. We questioned whether sustained epigenetic changes occur through male germline. In this review, we (1) systematically searched available research on impacts aquatic mammal organisms, including 42 articles, (2) summarized genetic effects, such as decreased offspring survival, reproductive dysfunction, metabolic disorders, behavioral abnormalities, (3) mechanisms paternal interactions, (4) propose suggestions future directions develop deeper risk

Thiamethoxam (THM) is one of the most widely used insecticides globally, which was designed to selectively target nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) in insect nervous system and generally considered safe for non-targeted organisms. However, increasing evidence has demonstrated its neurotoxicity aquatic organisms, though underlying mechanisms, especially at environmentally relevant concentrations, remain largely unclear. In this study, swimming distance zebrafish significantly shortened by 14.06%-21.64% after exposure THM 10-1000 ng/L. This behavioral impairment may result from damage visual systems, as confirmed notable apoptosis, histological analysis eyes, differential expression numerous genes. Molecular docking biomarkers assays found that can bind with nAChR multiple hormone receptors, binding energies varying -3.75 -6.74 kcal/mol. Consequently, concentrations a neurotransmitter (acetylcholine) related hormones (cortisol, triiodothyronine, thyroxine, thyroid-stimulating hormone) were affected. Further investigations using weighted gene correlation network metabolomics suggest enter cell via endocytosis potentially activating MAPK signaling pathway. activation disrupt purine pyrimidine metabolism nucleus, ultimately leading apoptosis neurotoxicity. study reveals THM, even poses neurological risks underscore need urgent attention ecological impacts environments.

Isoxazoline insecticides exhibit broad-spectrum insecticidal activity against insect pests. However, the high toxicity to honeybees limits their application in pest management. To explore reducing of isoxazoline derivatives bees, a series new cyclopropyl-picolinamide were designed and synthesized. Bioassays revealed that FSA37 showed excellent Plutella xylostella, Spodoptera litura, exigua, with LC50 values 0.077, 0.104, 0.198 mg/L, respectively. These results surpass those fluxametamide, which displayed 0.605, 0.853, 1.254 mg/L. Furthermore, exhibited notable Solenopsis invicta. Importantly, bee studies indicated possesses significantly lower acute oral compared fluralaner fluxametamide. Quantum chemical calculations molecular docking suggest fragment may be crucial for both biological safety nontarget organisms. In conclusion, represents promising candidate highly effective environmentally friendly insecticide.

Neonicotinoid insecticides (NNIs) can harm non-target species. This study examines NNIs’ distribution, sources, human exposure risks, and ecological risks in the Qiantang River’s water sediment. NNIs concentrations ranged from 8.92 to 88.0 ng/L 0.55 16.6 ng/g dw The showed a trend of middle reaches > lower upper reaches. Agricultural activities were main source, followed by wastewater treatment plants. Infants had highest intake, with daily intake 15.4 ng/kg body weight, about 5.4-times higher than adolescents. Using species sensitivity distribution relative potency factor, acute chronic toxicity thresholds for aquatic organisms estimated at HC5 values 3636 40 ng/L, respectively. Species trophic levels more sensitive NNIs. While fauna are low, prolonged poses potential health. These findings contribute enhancement regulatory framework serve as reference policymakers formulating pollution management strategies, thereby advancing sustainable development resources region.
