Nanoplastics and antibiotics frequently co-occur in aquatic environments, their interactions could alter nanoplastics' surface properties, affecting nanoplastics aggregation, fate, ecotoxicity. However, the mechanisms driving antibiotics-induced aggregation under environmentally relevant conditions remain unclear. This study investigated effects of ciprofloxacin (CIP) sulfamethoxazole (SMX) on four (pristine aged polystyrene, polyethylene, polypropylene). At pH 5.0, both CIP SMX significantly promoted with being more potent. enhanced through charge shielding driven by electrostatic attraction, hydrogen bonding (HB), charge-assisted HB (CAHB), whereas solely molecular bridging involving CAHB. 7.0, only facilitated while neither antibiotic induced at 9.0. Aged polystyrene aggregated readily than pristine due to increased functional groups. Polyethylene polypropylene showed weaker fewer High organic matter (OM) levels (1.65 mg/L TOC) inhibited low OM (16.5 μg/L were conducive. These findings highlight that characteristics, pH, levels, plastic types, environmental aging collectively influence improve understanding fate risk natural waters.
