The environmental contamination by plastics, microplastics, and related compounds is a major concern. While the detection release of micro- nanoparticles from these materials have been widely studied, formation molecules resulting their degradation in environment overlooked. This work presents study products released poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) irradiated as pure particles adsorbed on silica sand surfaces under different irradiation conditions. role oxygen was also evaluated. were identified gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) liquid chromatography-high resolution mass (LC-HRMS). main can be accounted for considering cleavage α- β-bonds next to ester moiety polymer chain. Volatile such benzene well monomer units identified. In presence oxygen, acetic acid hydroxylation at benzenic ring or ethyl detected. Adsorption has little effect photoproduct distributions. 360 nm leads distributions similar ones observed 257 nm, but reaction rate lower. product ethylene terephthalate marker PET plastics therefore used evaluate this material.

In this study, the degradation behavior of poly(lactic acid) nanocomposite films (PLA/Hec-g@PS) under extreme natural environments was investigated, and degraded PLA based were applied to adsorb Cu(II). During early midstages degradation, surface roughness crack propagation rate PLA/Hec-g@PS significantly lower than those films.
