Ozone (O3) loss on surfaces forms oxygenated VOCs (OVOCs) that can cause adverse health effects. Previous studies have focused surface ozonolysis of pure unsaturated compounds impermeable surfaces, whereas other work has addressed this chemistry in genuine indoor environments. Our goal is to bridge gap by examining O3 and OVOC production glass paint both laboratory experiments, using purposefully contaminated with (squalene, triolein), complex oils (skin, olive), were aged an occupied apartment. Paint was chosen as a permeable reactive material, which the most common surface. It found indoors had lower yields than when exposed O3, probably because reacts materials rather deposited organics. Many OVOCs measured, including skin oil products such acetone, 6-MHO, 4-OPA; however, highest from apartment samples nonanal hexanal, levels highly correlated amount cooking occurred.
