Two new diacid monomers containing either fluorene or sulfone moieties polymerize via step-growth polymerization in the presence of their diol counterparts alkyl diols (ethylene glycol and 1,6-hexanediol), forming eight cardo structure polyesters. The polymers exhibit high optical transparency thin-film form with refractive indices ranging from 1.56 to 1.69, tunable glass transition temperatures ca. 40 116 °C no melting temperature, resistance thermal degradation a nitrogenous atmosphere, reaching 350–398 before observing 10% weight loss. Their molecular weights, Mw, range 17 77 kDa, an average polydispersity, Đ, 1.5, purified yields 82%. absorb light primarily UV region 228 320 nm absorption 800 nm. A critical finding is that some induce negative bioactivity even cell death T47D-KBLuc cells, breast cancer line, at concentrations. This report details project inspiration, monomer synthesis, steps, structural confirmation, material characterization, impact monomer's estrogenic antiestrogenic bioactivity.
