Abstract
Epoxy
resins,
widely
recognized
for
their
stable
cross‐linked
structures
and
extensive
use
as
adhesives,
face
a
fundamental
challenge
in
balancing
high‐performance
attributes
with
dynamic
functionalities.
To
address
this,
novel
strategy
leveraging
synergistic
effects
is
proposed
to
amplify
bonds
within
the
resin
network.
Specifically,
an
ionic
monomer
featuring
imidazole
cations
benzene
rings
synthesized
combined
four‐arm
thiol‐containing
ester
groups,
forming
network
through
dual
curing
process.
This
design
endows
thermoset
multiple
stimuli‐responsive
The
groups
are
pivotal
enabling
resin's
degradability
reprocessability,
while
non‐covalent
cation‐π
interactions
significantly
enhance
energy
dissipation,
resulting
superior
mechanical
properties.
Notably,
not
only
lower
barrier
of
epoxy
thermal
reaction
but
also
accelerate
hydrolysis
via
hydrogen
bonding.

tunable
responsive
adhesive
cyclic
features,
offering
promising
candidate
functional
applications
devices
beyond.

High-Molecular-Weight Biobased Polycarbonate Preparation Using Metal-Free Deep Eutectic Solvents: Efficient Activation of the Hydroxyl Groups

Activating
hydroxyl
groups
in
monomers
is
crucial
for
preparing
high-molecular-weight
bioderived
polycarbonates.
Herein,
we
developed
metal-free
deep
eutectic
solvents
(DESs)
to
activate
endo-
and
exo-hydroxyl
isosorbide
(ISB)
through
hydrogen
bonding
interactions,
facilitating
the
preparation
of
poly(isosorbide
carbonate)
(PIC)
by
melt
polycondensation
with
diphenyl
carbonate
(DPC).
Catalytic
evaluation
results
indicated
that
Brønsted
acid–base
properties
DESs
had
a
greater
impact
on
Mn
PIC
than
molecular
size
Lewis
properties.
The
pH
value
close
7,
smaller
size,
higher
acidity
yielded
PICs
Mn.
formation
bonds
between
DES
monomer
was
conducive
PIC.
Among
all
catalysts,
synthesis
catalyzed
choline
chloride–ethylene
glycol
(n:n
=
1:2)
highest
Mn,
reaching
116,100
g·mol–1.
Obtained
maintained
high
transmittance
(>90%)
low
yellowness
(b*
<
0.40).
