Dyslipidemias are disorders of plasma levels lipids, such as elevated total cholesterol and triglyceride, that associated with various human diseases including cardiovascular disease (CVD) non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFLD). Statins the first-line drugs for treatment dyslipidemia. However, a substantial proportion patients cannot reach recommended LDL-c level even highest tolerated doses statins, there is no available drug specifically NAFLD therapy. Sea cucumbers one widely distributed invertebrates, an important resource food medicine. have many valuable nutrients saponins, acids, phospholipids, cerebrosides, sulfated polysaccharides, well proteins peptides. In recent years, these natural products derived from sea attracted attentions CVD because their lipid-lowering effect low toxicity. hypolipidemic mechanisms action structure-activity relationship bioactive components not been well-documented in literature. This review article summarizes signaling pathways potential cucumber-derived compounds carbohydrates peptides proteins. will provide information useful development investigation other resources.

In recent years, numerous reports have described bioactive peptides (biopeptides)/hydrolysates produced from various food sources. Biopeptides are considered interesting for industrial application since they show functional properties (e.g., anti-aging, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties) technological solubility, emulsifying, foaming). Moreover, fewer side effects than synthetic drugs. Nevertheless, some challenges must be overcome before their administration via the oral route. The gastric, pancreatic, small intestinal enzymes acidic stomach conditions can affect bioavailability levels that reach site of action. Some delivery systems been studied to avoid these problems microemulsions, liposomes, solid lipid particles). This paper summarizes results studies conducted on biopeptides isolated plants, marine organisms, animals, biowaste by-products, discusses potential in nutricosmetic industry, considers could maintain bioactivity. Our environmentally sustainable products used as antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory agents formulations. Biopeptide production requires expertise analytical procedures good manufacturing practice. It is hoped new developed simplify large-scale authorities adopt regulate use appropriate testing standards guarantee population’s safety.

Food-derived peptides have been extensively studied for their benefits in humans. Hen eggs, characterized by high protein and digestibility, are an excellent source of food-derived bioactive peptides. This review summarizes the preparation methods, purification, identification hen egg-derived (HEPs). The methods mainly include enzymatic hydrolysis, microbial fermentation, chemical synthesis. Genetic engineering is emerging trend HEP preparation. Then, we summarize biological activities HEPs, such as antioxidant activities, enzyme inhibitory activity, antibacterial which activity comprehensively summarized first time. structure–activity relationship underlying mechanism HEPs further elucidated. Finally, applications, future challenges, opportunities were discussed food non-food sectors. We focus on potential applications intestinal health assembly delivery provide a reference utilization commercial development HEPs.

The incidence of ulcerative colitis (UC) is increasing annually. There are few treatments for UC patients, and some drugs have serious side effects. Sea cucumber peptide (SCP) has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant other biological activities, various sea species in pharmaceutical development. However, relevant studies on the effects SCP progression still lacking. In this study, a mouse model acute was induced by 3% dextran sulfate (DSS), effect 500 mg/kg investigated. results showed that can alleviate DSS-induced colon damage intestinal barrier damage. significantly inhibited expression inflammatory factors oxidative stress mice. reversed microbiota dysregulation DSS, growth Sutterella, Prevotella_9 Escherichia-Shigella harmful bacteria, increased abundance Lachnospiraceae_NK4A136_group. At same time, treatment LPS-induced polarization M1 macrophages, which may be mediated two monopeptides, IPGAPGVP TGPIGPPGSP, via FPR2. conclusion, protect against modulating composition inhibiting macrophages.

Chronic inflammation can extensively burden a healthcare system. Several synthetic anti-inflammatory drugs are currently available in clinical practice, but each has its own side effect profile. The planet is gifted with vast and diverse oceans, which provide treasure of bioactive compounds, the chemical structures may valuable pharmaceutical agents. Marine organisms contain variety some have activity received considerable attention from scientific community for development drugs. This review describes such as well crude extracts (published during 2010–2022) echinoderms: namely, sea cucumbers, urchins, starfish. Moreover, we also include their structures, evaluation models, activities, including molecular mechanism(s) these compounds. paper highlights potential applications those marine-derived compounds industry to develop leads pipeline. In conclusion, this serve well-documented reference research progress on echinoderms against various chronic inflammatory conditions.
