Colitis, a troublesome inflammatory disease that significantly impacts daily life, has garnered considerable attention in recent times. Protolysates play crucial role the treatment of colitis, and intestines ovum Cucumaria frondosa represent readily available source these hydrolysates. However, effects C. hydrolysates (CFHs) on colitis have not been thoroughly investigated. We initially examined molecular weight distribution CFHs found fraction molecules with less than 1000 Da accounted for 86.98%, indicating hydrolysis primarily produced oligopeptides. Subsequently, we employed dextran sulfate sodium-induced experimental model to assess therapeutic potential CFHs. The findings indicated preventive administration dramatically attenuated pathological manifestations associated mice, including loss, colon shortening, tissue damage. Furthermore, suppressed secretion pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-6, TNF-α, IL-1β, as well MPO tissue. Metagenomic sequencing demonstrated could restore balance dysregulated gut microbiota by reinforcing Bacteroidota suppressing Verrucomicrobia populations, impacting various microbial functions.
