Hyaluronic
acid
(HA)
is
an
acidic
mucopolysaccharide
of
animal
origin
composed
repeating
disaccharide
units
N-acetylglucosamine
and
glucuronic
acid.
Due
to
its
excellent
biocompatibility,
biodegradability,
selective
affinity
for
CD44
receptors
on
cell
surfaces,
HA
widely
employed
as
a
drug
carrier.
In
our
study,
we
aimed
target
subcellular
bacteria
by
grafting
cystamine
onto
scaffolds
through
amide
reaction,
producing
linker
responsive
H2S
pH
changes.
Subsequently,
hydrophobic
dodecylamine
was
attached
HA,
forming
amphiphilic
molecules.
These
entities
can
self-assemble
into
nanomicelles
in
aqueous
solution,
thereby
encapsulating
the
antibacterial
agent
triclosan
(TCS).
The
resulting
HA-based
system
(HASS-TCS)
be
internalized
via
CD44-mediated
endocytosis,
releasing
substantial
amounts
streptomycin
TCS
H2S-rich
environments.
Additionally,
HASS-TCS
has
demonstrated
effectiveness
eradicating
biofilms
addressing
intracellular
infections
caused
Salmonella.
This
study
underscores
novel
pH-sensitive
hyaluronic
acid-based
delivery
with
significant
potential
effective
treatment
infections.
