Mirid plant bugs (Hemiptera: Miridae), including Lygus hesperus (western tarnished bug), are key pests of numerous agricultural crops. While management this pest relies heavily on chemical insecticides, the evolution resistance and environmental concerns underscore need for new more effective approaches. Genetic-based strategies that target male fertiliy currently being evaluated population suppression. However, a lack candidate gene targets with appropriate function, specifically in non-model species like L. hesperus, has hindered progress development application such Given their conserved role stabilization flagella axoneme association sperm motility many organisms, members tektin family represent logical genetic-based sterilization. Here, we identified four homologs non-vertebrate from used RNA interference-mediated knockdown to assess roles fertility. Although transcription tektins was predominantly testis, had negligible effects either abundance or Our results suggest do not play critical fertilization eggs thus likely poor sterilization approaches species.

The adverse effects of 33 typical pesticides in dry and paddy lands cultivation areas China were investigated. First, the resistance cross-resistance (for target organisms), toxicity, joint toxicity nontarget organisms) evaluated, nine with high resistance, three wide cross-resistance, one screened. Second, optimal synergist control schemes developed, under which to organisms (corn aphid, soybean rice water weevil) reduced by 23.46%, 46.06%, 26.36% (maximum), respectively, (neurotoxicity developmental toxicity) (ladybird beetle, parasitic wasp, Chinese mitten crab) 38.83%, 17.76%, 15.94% respectively. Third, multitoxicity (neurotoxicity, metabolic carcinogenicity, reproductive respiratory outcome pathway based on human health risk was constructed, 10 higher composite identified. Finally, total exposure predicted, a priority list proposed. This study provides theoretical guidance for controlling pesticide application achieve green sustainable development agricultural soils.
