Abstract BACKGROUND Phytopathogenic fungal diseases significantly impact the quality of vegetables and fruits in agriculture. Salvia castanea , a Tibetan medicinal plant, possessed anti‐inflammatory, antitumor, antimicrobial activities. Therefore, we investigated ingredients from this plant clarified their protective curative plants detail. RESULTS Bio‐guided isolation was conducted to obtain 23 abietane diterpenoids, including three new ones (Castanoids A–C). Most compounds exhibited significant antifungal activity against four fungi. Castanoid C ( 7 ) showed remarkable inhibition Sclerotinia sclerotiorum Valsa mali Botrytis cinerea with median effective concentration (EC 50 values 1.30, 0.84, 2.40 μg/mL, respectively, outperforming commercial agent trifloxystrobin. In vivo compound demonstrated 100% 82.26 ± 1.07% efficiency on rape leaves at 200 μg/mL. At 300 μg/ mL, it effectively controlled tomato rot 92.65 2.55% activity. The observation by transmission electron microscopy disclosed that inhibited growth fungi destroying cell membrane permeability caused leakage cellular components. Additionally, 11 exerted potent inhibitory effects Staphylococcus aureus Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidae (Psa) minimum (MIC) value 6.25 μ m surpassing gentamicin. Its mechanism Psa may also involve damage. CONCLUSION result highlights antibacterial potential diterpenoids particularly C. These findings suggest broad applicability agriculture, especially for controlling rape, apple, crops. This research provides foundation developing natural, agents, advancing field disease management. © 2025 Society Chemical Industry.
