To enhance the low-efficiency but potentially health and environmentally friendly aqueous decaffeination process, ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAAE) has recently been proposed. A novel concept of intermittent water change to further UAAE also mentioned, not yet studied in detail. For this reason, a mathematical model that can be used predict concentration evolutions caffeine during conventional (CAE) whole green robusta coffee beans is herein The consists terms representing transient intra-bean diffusion as well molar fluxes on bean surface. After validation, was investigate effects temperature, bean-to-water mass ratio frequency evolutions. Simulation results show exhibits around 10% higher removal rates than CAE at all investigated conditions. Extraction temperature 70 °C, 1:3, every 1 h interval are noted most appropriate conditions for UAAE. required durations under these 13 24 meet US European Union standards, respectively.

Cognitive and mood benefits of coffee are often attributed to caffeine. However, emerging evidence indicates behavioural effects non-caffeine components within coffee, suggesting the potential for direct or synergistic these compounds when consumed with caffeine in regular brewed coffee. The current randomised, placebo-controlled, double-blind, counterbalanced-crossover study compared decaffeinated placebo on measures cognition mood. Age sex were explored by comparing responses older (61–80 years, N = 30) young (20–34 29) males females. Computerised episodic memory, working attention, subjective state completed at baseline 30 min post-drink. Regular produced expected decreased reaction time increased alertness placebo. When digit vigilance accuracy tiredness headache ratings observed. Decaffeinated also Higher jittery following females represented only interaction age treatment. These findings suggest activity beyond its content, raising issues use as a highlighting need further research into psychoactive effects.

This study aimed to assess the potential effects of long-term intake caffeine and habitual consumption coffee tea on occurrence cardio-renal events among an Iranian population with low high consumption. Adult participants Tehran Lipid Glucose Study (2006–2008 2012–2014) who met inclusion criteria, were recruited. Habitual dietary intakes assessed using a validated food frequency questionnaire. Demographics, anthropometrics, blood pressure, biochemical variables evaluated at baseline during follow-up examinations. Multivariate Cox proportional hazard logistic regression models adjusted for confounders used estimate risk cardiovascular disease (CVD), hypertension (HTN) chronic kidney (CKD). During median 6 years follow-up, incidence rate CVD outcomes, HTN, CKD 3.3%, 15.5%, 17.9%, respectively. The was increased more than two-fold in highest tertile (HR = 2.44, 95% confidence interval, CI 1.40–4.27; P trend 0.001), 2.22, 1.23–4.01; 0.005). A 42% lower observed drinkers, compared non-drinkers 0.58, 0.36–0.93; 0.023). No significant association between tea, or HTN CKD. Findings our support previous data regarding protective CVD. Contrary studies, we found that higher caffeine, mainly originated from population, may increase events. It be related type its preparation methods, additives artificial colors consumed Iran, sweets sugar mostly accompanied by tea. Also, genetic variants liver enzymes modify sources Further prospective studies incorporation different habits backgrounds are needed clarify contradictions.

To date, there exists a debate on the effect of milk added to coffee infusions/beverages concerning nutritional quality and functional properties its phenolic compounds. Yet, full beverage without significant negative impact sensorial profile are highly desired by consumers. Negative/masking, positive, neutral effects antioxidant activity bioavailability phenolics (particularly, chlorogenic acids) have been reported. Some potential factors including type amount added, beverage, composition both (protein fat) (phenolic compounds), preparation method, assays used measure properties, sampling size may account for various reported findings. Background: Coffee is a widely available beverage that enjoyed by individuals of many cultures. The publication new studies prompts review the clinical updates regarding association between coffee consumption and cardiovascular disease. Methods: We present narrative literature related to Results: Recent (2000-2021) have shown regular associated with decreased risk developing hypertension, heart failure, atrial fibrillation. However, results are inconsistent regard coronary Most show J-shaped association, wherein moderate resulted in disease heavy increased risk. In addition, boiled or unfiltered more atherogenic than filtered because its rich diterpene content inhibits bile acid synthesis ultimately affects lipid metabolism. On other hand, coffee, which essentially devoid aforementioned compounds, exerts antiatherogenic properties increasing high-density lipoprotein–mediated cholesterol efflux from macrophages through influence plasma phenolic acid. As such, levels principally influenced manner preparation (boiled vs filtered). Conclusion: Our findings suggest leads decrease all-cause cardiovascular-related mortality, cholesterol, no conclusive relationship has been consistently identified.

Therefore, this systematic review meta-analysis aimed at summarizing the current evidence on of with in observational studies. Methods: PubMed/Medline Web Science were searched for studies up to February 2023. Observational which assessed HTN highest category consumption comparison lowest included (registration number: CRD42022371494). pooled effect was evaluated using a random-effects model. Results: Twenty-five i.e., thirteen cross-sectional twelve cohorts identified be eligible. Combining 13 extracted sizes from cohort showed that higher associated 7% reduction (95% CI: 0.88, 0.97; I2: 22.3%), whereas combining 16 illustrated greater (RR = 0.79, 95% 0.72, 0.87; I2 63.2%). These results varied by characteristics, such as region study, participants’ sex, study quality, sample size. Conclusions: An inverse found both However, dependent characteristics.
