Abstract A synthetic approach to dibenzo[f,h]quinolines and their derivatives via stepwise ruthenium-catalyzed C–H arylation potassium-mediated reductive cyclodehydrogenation from 2-phenylpyridine aryl bromides, is presented. One dibenzo[f,h]quinoline derivative used as a bidentate ligand prepare cyclometalated ruthenium complex. Two compounds the complex were characterized by single-crystal X-ray structural analysis.

Four N-acenoacenes were synthesized and analyzed for their optoelectronic properties solid-state packings. Two of the regioisomeric acridinoacridines are TIPS-ethynylated, whereas other pair Boc- triflate substituted derivatives. The two TIPS-ethynyldiazaacenoacenes processed into organic thin-film transistors with saturation hole mobilities reaching 2.9×10-2 cm2 (Vs)-1 .

Ullazines and their π-expanded derivatives have gained much attention as active components in various applications, such organic photovoltaic cells or photosensitizers for CO2 photoreduction. Here, we report the divergent synthesis of functionalized diazaullazines by means two different domino-reactions consisting either a Povarov/cycloisomerization alkyne–carbonyl metathesis/cycloisomerization protocol. The corresponding quinolino-diazaullazine benzoyl-diazaullazine were obtained moderate to good yields. Their optical electronic properties studied compared related, literature-known compounds obtain insights into impact nitrogen doping π-expansion.

Abstract An FeCl3-catalyzed Povarov reaction for the efficient synthesis of dibenzo[b,f][1,7]naphthyridines utilizing 1-(2-alkynylaryl)-2-pyrrolecarbaldehydes and arylamines in excellent yields is demonstrated. The essential features present strategy are easy preparation substrates, broad substrate scope, mild conditions, high atom economy yields, presence environmentally friendly iron catalysis.

An Fe(III)-catalyzed expedient synthesis of 13-aryl-13H-indeno[1,2-l]phenanthrene is described by a double annulations 2-alkynyl biaryls, initiated the activation acetal. This strategy provides simple, efficient and regioselective varieties indenophenanthrene derivatives from easily available starting materials under mild conditions in high to excellent yields. A plausible reaction mechanism proposed.

Abstract An intramolecular cyclization reaction of alkynyl cyclic acetals to synthesize various phenanthrene derivatives in the presence silver triflate (AgOTf) or boron trifluoride etherate (BF3·OEt2) as catalysts has been developed. By using AgOTf BF3·OEt2 appropriately depending on substituents were converted corresponding derivatives. Investigations mechanisms, X-ray structure product, and computational density functional theory (DFT) study suggested that proceeds via alkyne activation (π-activation) acetal (σ-activation) pathways based π- σ-Lewis acidities.
