Dielectrophoresis (DEP) has been widely employed in microfluidic platforms for particle or cell manipulation biomedical science applications due to its accurate, fast, label-free, and low-cost diagnostic technique. However, the application of DEP technique towards protein yet be extensively explored challenges complexity itself, such as complex morphologies, extremely minuscule size, inherent electrical properties, temperature sensitivity, which make it relatively more challenging. Furthermore, given that investigation requires entering micro- nano-scale level configuration, various challenging factors electrohydrodynamic effects, electrolysis, joule heating, electrothermal force emerge will difficult realizing investigation. This review study discussed fundamental theory considerations toward manipulation. In particular, focused on theoretical principle protein, challenges, platform considerations, medium a critically reviewed list bioparticles have investigated were all highlighted.
