The contact between a rigid Hertzian indenter and an adhesive broad-band viscoelastic substrate is considered. material behaviour described by modified power law model, which characterized only four parameters, the glassy rubbery elastic moduli, characteristic exponent n timescale τ0. maximum adherence force that can be reached while unloading from relaxed half-space studied means of numerical implementation based on boundary element method, as function velocity, preload varying broadness spectrum. I study the influence of temperature and crack-tip velocity bond breaking at crack tip in rubber-like materials. Bond is considered as a stress-aided thermally activated process results an effective propagation energy, which increases strongly with decreasing or increasing speed. This effect particularly important for adhesive (interfacial) but less cohesive (bulk) owing to much larger bond-breaking energies latter case. For cracks, theory are consistent adhesion measurements silicone rubber polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) contact silica glass surfaces. agrees well experimental PDMS films chemically bound silanized glass.

The excessive use of fluoride in fibrous membranes poses significant bioaccumulative threats to the environment and human health. However, most existing used protective clothing desalination systems show high fluorine dependence inevitable trade-offs between liquid repellency breathability. Herein, fluorine-free bonded scaffolded nanofiber/network are developed using electro-coating-netting technique achieve high-performance liquid-repellency By manipulating stretching electrospun jets polarization electrets, rough electrostatic wetting nanofibers obtained as scaffolds, on which long-chain alkyl precursors coated assemble 2D networks consisting nanowires with diameters ∼42 nm bonding points. resultant exhibit small pore sizes ∼460 nm, highly interconnected tortuous channels, a water contact angle ∼138°, elastic elongation up 300%, thereby providing both (125 kPa) vapor permeability (4206 g m-2 d-1), making them effective for desalination. This work could inspire innovative design ecofriendly nanofibrous materials filtration separation.

Abstract The paper presents an analysis of plastic particles flow and breakage in a solid‐state shear mill (S3M). This resembles the traditional stone used for flour milling. The higher notch sensitivity of polycarbonate (PC) at low temperatures limits its application in some fields. In this work, a ternary copolymer P(St-SiO-An) composed styrene (St), silicon oil (SiO), and acrylonitrile (An) was synthesized via conventional radical copolymerization. Then, the compatibilities between PC/silicon rubber (Sr), PC/P(St-SiO-An), P(St-SiO-An)/Sr were predicted through molecular dynamics simulation. By using as effective compatibilizer, series PC/Sr blends prepared melt blending method. mechanical, morphological, thermal, rheological changes investigated detail. simulation showed that PC/P(St-SiO-An) pairs significantly than those pair. with distinct chemical composition successfully according to results Fourier transform infrared, 1H nuclear magnetic resonance, gel permeation chromatography, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis methods. Under optimal = 95/5 4 phr P(St-SiO-An), transition from brittle superductile fracture observed on notched impact cross-section blend −40 °C, strength reached 116.2 kJ/m2, which more 7 times 16.5 kJ/m2 for pure PC 94.1% yield retention ratio room temperature. Cavitation-matrix-forced high elastic deformation main toughening mechanism temperatures. Furthermore, introduction Sr compatibilizer hardly affected thermal performance PC, stability processability enhanced. Highly stretchable elastomers show a well-known discontinuous fracture transition, involving crack propagation speed becoming double-valued within certain window of network stretching.
