As a kind of high-performance thermoplastic crystalline resin, poly(4-methyl-1-pentene) (PMP) is characterized by its low density, dielectric constant, exceptional mechanical and chemical properties, high transparency, gas permeability. PMP has recently received more attention since COVID-19, because it used as hollow-fiber membrane for extracorporeal oxygenation (ECMO) based on permeability excellent biocompatibility. This review summarizes the structure, synthesis, application PMP. The advancements in catalyst systems catalytic synthesis PMP, including Ziegler–Natta, metallocene, post-metallocene, late-transition metal catalysts are emphasized. Furthermore, molecular chain helical conformation, crystallization morphology well properties applications, also introduced detail. Additionally, composites functional materials described promising materials.

Flexible α‐Diimine Ni(II) and Pd(II) Catalysts Featuring Backbone and Axial Cycloalkyl Substituents in Ethylene (Co)polymerization DOI Open Access

ABSTRACT Recently, axial flexible substituents have found widespread application in ethylene (co)polymerization catalyzed by late transition metals, yielding impressive results. In this research, we designed and synthesized a novel class of α‐diimine Ni(II) Pd(II) catalysts, distinguished their backbones that both incorporate cycloalkyl moieties. During nickel‐catalyzed polymerization, these nickel catalysts demonstrated high activity (well above 10 6 g/(mol Ni·h)) thermal stability, producing polyethylenes with very molecular weights (up to 1022 kg/mol) branching densities 103/1000C). Interestingly, the catalyst reported study exhibits higher compared classic rigid backbones. The resultant polyethylene materials exhibited outstanding mechanical properties elastic recovery (with strain (SR) up 79%), qualifying them as high‐performance thermoplastic elastomers. contrast, during palladium‐catalyzed palladium showed moderate (level 5 Pd·h)) generated 99/1000C) 203 kg/mol). case copolymerization methyl acrylate (MA), was notably reduced homopolymerization, resulting E‐MA copolymers lower densities. However, under experimental conditions, successfully obtained significant incorporation (1.53–4.54 mol%) MA. Despite the great successes achieved by metallocene catalysts in high-value-added polyolefin elastomer, challenging preparation conditions and undesirable high-temperature molecular weight capabilities have compromised efficiency cost of industrial production. Recently, non-metallocene received considerable attention due to their high thermostability, especially when coordinated with early transition metals. This review provides an overview these metal catalysts, which are mainly composed N,N′-, N,O-, N,S-bidentate complexes tridentate complexes. The structural characteristics, catalytic performance, advantages, disadvantages relevant as well applications, discussed. Candidates for commercialization proposed—focusing on imine-enamine, amino-quinoline, pyridine-imine catalysts—by comparing successful industrialization cases catalysts. Finally, trend research strategies address challenges limiting considered.
