Abstract
Metal‐free,
visible
light‐induced
difunctionalizations
of
α
‐CF
3
styrenes
with
aryl
diazonium
salts
and
various
hetero
nucleophiles
(ROH,
H
2
O,
N
−
F
)
are
described.
This
concise
protocol
provided
easy
access
to
the
tertiary
alkyl
ethers,
alcohol
fluorides
good
yields
excellent
functional
group
tolerance.
In
addition,
four‐component
“SO
”
insertion
reaction
also
worked
efficiently
produce
,
β
‐sulfonyl
ethers
in
moderate
yields.
A
radical‐polar
crossover
coupling
pathway
was
proposed
for
C−O
bond
formation.

Synthetic
radicals
have
intrinsic
power
for
cascading
and
multifunctional
reactions
to
construct
diverse
molecular
scaffolds.
In
the
previous
review
series,
we
covered
1,2-difunctionalizations,
remote
1,3-,
1,4-,
1,5-,
1,6-,
1,7-difunctionalizations,
addition
followed
by
cyclization
reactions,
cycloaddition-initiated
difunctionalizations.
Presented
in
this
paper
are
radical
addition-initiated
trifunctionalization
of
alkenes,
alkynes,
their
derivatives.
After
initial
addition,
there
different
pathways,
such
as
group
or
hydrogen
atom
transfer,
cyclization,
coupling,
complete
second
third
functionalizations.

From
a
single
alkene
to
two
different
alkenes!
An
iron-catalyzed
four-component
reaction
involving
an
aldehyde,
alkenes
and
TMSN3
is
developed
assemble
these
four
reactants
in
orderly
fashion
based
on
the
inherent
nucleophilic/electrophilic
activity
of
radicals
via
double
radical
addition,
providing
various
multifunctional
compounds
containing
azido
group
carbonyl
groups.
