Herein a metal-free approach for the synthesis of isoquinolone derivatives by means photoinitiated deaminative [4+2] annulation alkynes and N-amidepyridinium salts is described. This protocol exhibits broad scope good functional group tolerance regioselectivity under benign reaction conditions. Preliminary studies suggest that critical amide radical derived from photocatalytic cleavage N-N bond salt, which adds to triple alkyne undergoes process afford desired isoquinolones.
